10.23.2021 I absolutely dislike giving a 2 star review for a restaurant that fed me and probably supports the owners family. But I committed to all the other customers to give a true, knowledgeable, fact base and fair review no matter what my own taste buds think and my feelings feel. To the restaurant. Nice appearance, clean and and accordingly equipped and decorated. Staff was super friendly, helpful and with good spirits. The above reaso s is why I give the two stars. On we go with the food. We ordered almost $90 worth of food. We wanted to give this Mexican restaurant a true and honest review and that's why we tried many items. 2 chicken tacos, 2 beef tacos, 2 fish tacos, ham breakfast burrito, menudo, Carneasada fries, 2 tamales and 3 large drinks. I ordered all tacos with flower shell. They all came in crispy corn shells. We apologized for the misunderstanding and they replaced them with flower shells. Unfortunately we did not get any beef tacos back so all we had was 4 chicken. And two fish tacos. Bummer... Chicken and fish tacos were on the level of taco bel and other food chains of that level. No good sauce, in my opinion no homemade tortilla, poor quality lettuce and so on. Ham breakfast burrito and fries were pretty good. Nothing too flavorful but we enjoyed the items. Tamales were also not bad at all. Fair amount of meat and flavors were decent. And now to the worst item we ordered. Menudo...I ate menudo many times in my life. Tripe (cow, pig, sheep stomach liner), I ate tripe salads, tripe in Vietnamese Pho soups and so on but never ever I had such bad smelling tripe. Clearly their supplier or the restaurant themself does not a very good cleaning and prepping job. Tripe is a very delicate food and has to prepared properly. If not you get the smell of digested food. In short: poop smell. It was absolutely disgusting. There was people eating it right next to me and seem not to have a problem. Did they get theirs from another batch? I have no idea. Absolutely wrong and disgusting. I must have dropped a bit on my beard while eating the menudo because on the drive home I had that smell in my nose....boy, was I happy when I got home and able to clean my face.
That's all I can say. 2 two star review is a solutely generous for this Restaurant. Staff and appearance deserve that. Food, no way....you will get equal or better food at the big chain Mexican junk food places.
My followers, friends and family know that I would never write such a bad review but I had no choice. Customers deserve the truth. I probably won't go back to any Sombrero restaurant.
I am hoping the owners will hire some better chefs and make better choices, otherwise I am not able to see this place serving food for much longer.
This is probably the worst review I have ever given. My apologies to a Yonex that does not agree but the truth is more important than feelings.
This was my first time at Sombreros and I dint k ow this place existed. I am also not associated with any competitors. Just...
Read moreI live on the opposite end of Corona and have not had food here in a long time. Previous visits have been very good, but last night I stopped here to pick up dinner, because I was in the area.
Unfortunately, it seems like things have gone downhill. My family ordered a calamari burrito, nachos with carne asada, and a mix burrito. Firstly, the calamari burrito was absolutely subpar. Smelled fishy and just seemed old, breading on the outside of the calamari was overcooked and tasted old as well. A rule of thumb for me is that most seafood isn't supposed to smell outright "fishy". I had to toss this burrito, due to the terrible taste and obviously unfresh/overcooked calamari. Next, the nachos were a bit bland and lifeless, but edible. Lastly, the mix burrito with shredded beef, beans, and cheese tasted fine, but this morning I am feeling nauseous..I was given a total of about $36 for this dinner, whereas my debit card was charged $43... Absolutely not acceptable for the experience with the food this time. I would have brought these issues up if we ate there, but I picked up our dinner at the drive thru.. I definitely...
Read moreOur first time there we thought it would be busy on Cinco De Mayo NOPE... Very EXPENSIVE for fast food. They do Discount for military or Veteran status though which is nice however was still expensive.. wasn't even that busy.. a few stragglers. The food was Mediocre at best.. They need to train their workers to really listen.. One of the workers was having a hard time comprehending simple tasks. I got the tostada salad was 6/10 the beans were watery which went to everything else n salad. My husband ordered the wet burrito which was what It says WET watery as hell.. But they are not shy about stuffing their 🌮. Atmosphere is what you'd expect a notch up from.Taco bell it's fast food still. We probably won't be back there are soooo many other Mexican but gota try it. It...
