Nolan’s Restaurant - Staples in Parkdale Plaza — Restaurant in Corpus Christi

So I visited the south staples location for some take out aroun 830 pm. Our order was taken quickly. The girl who took the order was extremely nice and accurate. While waiting for the order several staff members in the cooking area did not have their mask on. After a few moments another employee must have come to remind because after a quick talk they put their mask on correctly. The wait for the order was a bit lengthy. We ordered the fried shrimp and a chicken fried steak. We asked for the chicken fried steak to be well done. So I understand that it might take a bit longer. Plus I don't mind waiting as long as the order is right along with hot food. The girl at the counter did an excellent job in getting everything bagged up. Getting home we found that she in fact had gotten everything together that we needed to enjoy our meal at home. Great job! The chicken fried steak was cooked exactly how we liked it. The shrimp was hot but unfortunately you could tell that it had been refried along with the fries. On the first bite you could definitely tell that the fries and shrimp had been refried. The mack and cheese was hot but was a bit mushy it wasnt exactly fresh. I frequent this location so I was a bit disappointed with the shrimp order. I will still continue to order from this location but I definitely want people to know about take out orders. We've ordered the shrimp before when we were able to dine in safely and that is not how it was served. Chalk it up to maybe the cook was having a bad night or maybe someone just got lazy. I gave it 3 stars because it wasnt all bad. Half the order was great as well as the employee at the counter. My advice..... if it's burned or over cooked dont serve it...

My husband and I ordered takeout. I ordered chicken fried steak he ordered chicken fried chicken. I asked to have a loaded baked potato without the sour cream asked for them to put the sour cream on the side, got the orders open it up and it look good however the chicken fried steak was about 85% chicken fried batter and I even asked if they could have the batter lighter and they said yes they could they also said they could put the sour cream on the side. I couldn't hardly find the steak part of it. It was all batter. I Was very disappointed I had to scrape out the sour cream on my baked potato when you don't like sour cream on your baked potato it ruins the baked potato for you. Again very disappointed because I was very much looking forward to the meal. The price was right at $30 for the two meals which wouldn't have been bad except a large part of it went into the trash cuz I did not want to eat all the batter that was around the steak nor did I want to eat the baked potato that had this sour cream IN it The beans would have been good if they were not so cold I do realize it was takeout however I live less than 2 minutes from where Nolan's is. My husband said the chicken fried steak wasn't bad it had less batter on it then the chicken fried steak. I was going to order their poor boy sandwich I wish I had, maybe it would have been better. The young ladies working the floor were very nice and polite. But the food was horrible 😫. To start off with our order took long. Once I went up to the counter our order was finally brought to us. My dinner roll was cold and smashed (strange) . My baked potato was corn were also cold. The second meal was a Chopped Sirloin with brown gravy and onions. That Chopped Sirloin patty was literally burnt and super dry. Hardly any gravy on top. I took it to the counter to ask for extra gravy and showed them the dried up burnt patty..the young girl apologized and ask for extra gravy...she brought it up to the young woman a the register. I told her it was burnt and dry and that my mom couldn't even cut into it. In stead of apologizing and having them remake it...she said that's how they cook them and if we wanted it cooked different we need to let them know..so I asked her why didn't she ask we when she took my order how we would like it cooked?? She just responded, sorry yeah that's just how they cooked them. I asked the other employee if she was the manager and she said, I don't know, maybe...wow what a terrible lunch experience..oh and to make things worst the Sprite soda was super flat..
