Panda Express — Restaurant in Corpus Christi

I worked here for about two months, the general manager Christina didn't even have me in the system to get paid the whole time pretty much, She was also fully aware that I am an 18 year old college student and that I also couldn't afford to buy groceries and there were nights after nights where I had no choice but to go to sleep and wake up hungry. When she finally paid me she kept on repeating herself to me about how she gave me a few extra hours on my check (and that I should be very thankful for that🙏🏻), it's as if she deserves a round of applause 👏. She didn't allow me to wear gloves while I was cooking (made me take them off everytime I did),therefore while I was cooking one day I cut my finger and got a staph infection. I was in the hospital for 3 days bc I had a surgery and afterwards the doctor told me that I cannot work for another week and a half until my infection was fully healed. Christina was aware that I was under doctor's care and she assured me I can come back to work whenever I'm fully healed. That same day that I got out of the hospital, I FINALLY got paid for the past TWO MONTHS! The next day (second day out of the hospital) someone that worked there told me that he over heard the manager Christina and the regional manager Oleg, talking about firing and replacing me while I was under doctor's care. I went to the store 5 days later (on my birthday) to let her know that I'm feeling better and that I'm ready to work. She told me that while I was under doctor's care she had already terminated me and had found my replacement bc "she didn't know whether I was going to come back to work or not" even though she had my phone number and my address, also I had told her that I was under doctor's care for almost two weeks and It took me less that half of that time for me to heal up and get back to work. In conclusion, she didn't pay me during the two months I worked there, due to her incompetency for not allowing a cook to wear gloves (OSHA had assured me that there are no company policy against wearing gloves) I got hospitalized and just to top it all off she terminated me for being hospitalized due to her idiocy. Let's all give Christina a round of applause for being the "manager of the year" 👏 👏 👏. To tell you the truth, as the former cook I would NOT eat here, it is honestly DISGUSTING the way they keep their veggies, I have had stomach poisoning from eating here, I thought that maybe it was just me, but no that was not the case, I've personally heard multiple customers and my girlfriend telling me about how they've gotten stomach poisoning from eating here...

Let me start with, I absolutely love Panda. Ive had some smaller rude visits before from this location but I always try to give them the benefit of doubt because theyre always busy, like CRAZY BUSY and people have bad days. But today was the rudest and most unprofessional behavior and from management none the less. My first time ever placing an online order, email confirmation, received a text my food was ready, sent my mom to pick it up with the confirmation info.

She questioned why the Large box for the food, explaining the order was only for a single "bigger plate". The employee realized my order was given to a 3rd party delivery person who was picking up an order with the same first name. The employee placed a remake order. But still after the remake, brought out this massive family order box. Once again my mom declined and explained its not the correct order. It should be Mercedes L, not Mercedes G. The employee scrolled further back and found my order. Multiple others were served before my correct order made. It took almost an hour from order placement to receiving food in hand after which the manager accused my mom of having someone else pick up the order already and she was just trying to get free food stating that "people do it all the time." Im sorry but if I wanted to scam free food, I would have taken the massive family style order, not ask for my 3 item bigger plate order of $15. If they would have just apologized and remade the order immediately due to the confusion by staff, because I can honestly see where human error over a single initial can be made, this whole situation would have...

Panda Express on S Staples is a great deal for freshly cooked Chinese dishes. Their recipes are from a very famous Chinese chef and everything I've tried has been very good. My own favorites are the Beijing Beef, the Sweet Fire Chicken Breast and the spicy Kung Pao Chicken. Another great thing about Panda is the cost is very reasonable. For under $8 I get two entrees, Chow Mein and either steamed or fried rice. Great job, Panda Express people. I'll be back, again and again!
