Let me preface this by saying that Saltgrass is not my favorite Steak restaurant chaîne, but my son came home on leave from the Army and he wants to go to Salt grass. We called way in advance to make reservations, they refused saying they don’t do reservations anymore, just walk ins. We then deliberately avoided the lunch rush hour, and arrived at the restaurant around 14:30. The receptionist, a girl looks she may be 16, told us the wait x à table is over 2 hours. I looked around the restaurant, there were at least 4 tables clean & empty and another 4 empty but needed cleaning. I guess staff shortage. We decided to order a take out, as we were told it takes 20to 30 minutes to prepare food. They showed us the back area (kitchen) next to the bar where to order. There was only one girl assigned to the take out operation. Just to place an order it took 45 minutes, during the entire 40 minutes we were literally invisible standing next to the bar with menu on our hand waiting to place orders, even the manager went by us several times, but not even acknowledge us or look at us. Finally I started tracking the girl and reminding her that we have been standing there to order x awhile. She took our orders, and again we were told food prep takes 20 to 30 minutes. How about 3 hours. We waited that long, and when finally we go our food, we we0e heading home, when my wife started checking the orders, she realize that my son’s order was missing. They gave us the sides for his order but not the steak. We returned back in to let them know, then another 40 minutes of waiting. After over $160 and over 4 hours, arrived home, steaks were a OK!, and sides were terrible. As much as I hate MD, their fries as much tastier than SG that day. The food was not worth neither the money nor the wait. The family was disappointed, but I kind of was glad we didn’t dine in. No body had a mask in clouding the staff. With essentially no ventilation and the numerous diners they parade through the restaurant, in 2 to 3 weeks, they will have not much staff left. The majority will succumb to the ignored but still...
Read moreThe food came within a reasonable amount of time it was cooked fresh it was hot and everything was delicious. The service was outstanding the atmosphere is comfortably nice. You do not look out of place if you're in a suit in tie or shirt and shorts., The prices that you pay are within line of any other place. With such quality food and service might even be a little bit better of a price because you get more for your buck at this place In atmospheric alone much less the quality of the food and service. I think it's one of the finest steakhouses I've ever been to and I've been to some of the very best all over the country. I moved from San Antonio Texas to Rock Port Texas and it is my pleasure to drive to Corpus Christi To get to saltgrass steakhouse.. Although I cannot stand the highway system there it is completely always under construction DETOURS that lead you nowhere it's the CITY'S detour signs all you do is go around circles but it's worth it AND never end up anywhere I had to move one of the BARACADES last time to get on to a road that would take me back to the major highway, AFTER IASK ONE OF THE CONSTRUCTION CREW, WHICH HE DID NT KNOW???? So that I could go eat at the salt grass steak house otherwise? I could have a spent all day going around in circles. The city sucks Of course. Is worse constructed highway system? Then the little town of Corpus Christi Texas explained that 1 to me. I lived in New York for 7 years. And The highway system it was much better organized than the little town of Corpus Christi Texas. For the saltgrass steakhouse in fact I'm going day after tomorrow.!!! ps Think I am over exaggerating I don't have times to write this. Look long of a letter about a stupid detour system. The does not have any type of detour. Good luck you...
Read moreNOT WORTH THE WAIT, NOT WORTH THE FOOD. I have been to salt grass, in the past, when houston bound. My family, had never been here in Corpus. We drove all the way into Corpus, for a century 16 movie, followed by dinner. So .. after being told it was a 30 min wait. @7:09, we were seated at 8;09pm! We let it go thinking wow, their really busy, and it has to have been worth the wait! No., sadly it was not. The server was given our order at 8:15pm. And we were brought drinks and bread by 8:30. We never were checked up on. No update. We talked about, maybe we should get it to go, due to our two children basically starving. But here come only to plates , out of the five of us seated, at 9:15pm. The rest of the food came by 9:30. They close .. so we felt very rushed to eat. The food was not cooked all the way, and the atmosphere was horrible. All these people waiting around for service, when the servers were walking around in a frantic. I'm sure the issue was something to do with the chefs. Who knows they had someone call out. But after a 97$ ticket, our appetite was turned off.. and of course we tipped, bc we've all worked in the service before, and know that's how you make your money. But as a family, who was looking forward to a home cooked meal, a away from home. I do not recommend this location at all! I hope the management relationship with the staff improves and can fix whatever issue is at hand. Because the people who choose to come to enjoy their time here at this location, should have been communicated with better, for the sake of the outcome, of how things are going! Very sad. Very unprofessional. And all around too expensive for that type...
