What a staggering disappointment. I used to come to Block 15 at least once a month. The menu was fun and ever-changing, the beers were some of the better in the City, and the food was consistently excellent. I came as much for the service as anything.
On my most recent visit, it was a total reversal. The menu looks almost unchanged from two years ago, and the same goes for the beer list. Moreover, the quality has completely dropped out of the food, drinks, and service.
The bun on my burger fell apart right away. The patty tasted and had the texture of a generic, frozen, discount burger. The flavors were bland at best. The only thing on the plate that came close to their previous quality were the fries. I was unsurprised to find that their list of local sources was gone and replaced with a tv.
One of the beers were okay, but not impressive. But the list was nearly exactly as I remember it. Not stellar, but worth drinking if someone else is buying.
The service, though, killed it for me. Our waitress never even asked if we wanted to order drinks, just walked away as soon as we had ordered food. When I did finally flag her down to order, she took my beer order and walked away again without taking orders from the other three people at the table.
She got one of our orders wrong and instead of just correcting the issue, she decided to argue with the person whose order she had messed up. At every step in this process, she was out of sight for much longer than is appropriate. I am in the service industry myself, and I tend to be pretty forgiving of delays and issues. This was beyond what I am prepared to accept.
Thankfully there are other great places to eat in Corvallis, because I...
Read moreYou might think that the service would be better at one location vs the other. To say the least, the two Block 15's we have in Corvallis are just down right rotten in service. The server of my table, who we will not mention by name, but was male, had no personable skills, was rude, seemed like he could care less about this job he had and just made us feel very un-welcomed. From the moment he came over and took our drink order to the moment I paid, he was not at all deserving of a tip nor any return dinning experience from me and anyone I could recommend to this establishment. I rarely go here as it is, but I had visited the one next to 4 Spirits in summer 2022, and they had a fit about my dad asking for more ketchup. They are the same unwelcoming people at all locations. The minimum tip suggested (displayed) on their handheld device is 18%, but this guy was not even deserving of the actual bare minimum of 15%. After my tables order was taken, I looked at each person sitting with me and asked, "are you getting the same vibe as I?" Why did I ask when I could clearly see the facial reactions to the cringe and sheer notion of just wanting to leave splashed across my tables face? I guess I wanted to check if I was wrong, but....I wont be going back or speaking highly of going to this location either. I encourage you reading this to skip here and go somewhere else where they really want your business.
UPDATE merchant will reply to negative reviews and provide what seems like a good act to correct the negative experience by leaving an email for further follow up. However, after 3 business day later and no response, it's just for show. Take your dining experience elsewhere...
Read moreMy family and I love this place and come here often because the food is consistently amazing, and the bar staff are always fast, kind, and professional.
However, our experience yesterday was disappointing due to our server, Joshua. We had to wait a while for a table (which was fine because, seriously, this place is always worth it), but even while we were waiting the bar staff were incredible and even got us food and drinks. When we were sat with Joshua, I think he was annoyed that other staff had helped us already. He was immediately rude from the start and only got worse as the night went on. At one point, he even argued with my son over whether or not he had finished his meal—something that was completely unnecessary and unprofessional. Eventually, he stopped coming to our table altogether, and we had to get assistance from the bartender just for general service after he started waiting on us.
Thankfully, the bartender was exceptionally helpful, kind, and accommodating, ensuring that we were taken care of despite the poor service from our server. While we’ll absolutely be back for the great food and excellent bar staff, I hope management addresses this kind of behavior so it doesn’t take away from the otherwise fantastic experience this place usually offers. Note to others, if Joshua is your server, I’d request...
