I was driving Uber. I picked up a customer at the portland airport and brought him all the way to corvallis. After dropping off the customer, I had to drive all around town looking for an open gas station. Pretty much everything in this town is closed at  3 a m. Except Chevron gas station and Rivas taco shop. Open twenty-four hours are some of my favorite words in the english language. So after filling my tank, I stopped by at Rivas for 2 adobada tacos. I've eaten here before. Many years ago. But I could not remember how the food tasted. But it didn't matter. Rivas is the only game in town at 3:30 AM. My tacos looked and smelled good. I asked or red salsa and got green salsa. But that's okay. The first bite I took had no salsa at all. I wanted to test the flavor before I put salsa on. Honestly, it smelled and looked better than it tasted. Not to say that it tasted bad, but it didn't taste as good as I expected. On a scale from 1 to 10, I would give Rivas a 4. Just one point better than Chipotle. The pork was only mildly seasoned. And the texture was nice and soft. I did see guacamole on my taco, but I did not really taste it. Same with the Pico de gallo. The green salsa was ok. It was raining heavily this monday morning, and I did not want to sit there at the drive-through with my window open. I only glanced at the taco prices, which I thought were three dollars per taco. I ordered 2 tacos and a medium Coke for $12. So I'm guessing that $3 was $5. I can only speak on the adobada tacos. They aren't worth it.

La conga, la Rivas, and whatever the name was right after La conga was, doesn't matter what this place is called, this is the place I go every time I'm in the Linn Benton area, the veggie burrito, diablo burrito (maybe I'm used to it but it's not that hot, has shrimp though), and quesadillas are my go to since I was 6, it's my comfort food. the sizes have gone down which is a little disappointing but every business thinks they can squeeze a turnip for another penny so I'm just happy it's still around. To be clear, I'm not comparing to a burrito nearly 25 years ago, those were literally bigger than my arm being practically 5, I'm talking about less than 5 years ago they competed with Chipotle...and I guess they still do technically. Just shrinkflation. The burritos were 7.99 early 2000s, the value is arguably on par with the inflation of rice. If anything could be added having the chipotle cream sauce from the diablo burrito and an aqua-verde sauce mixed with a little sour cream (think avocado colored) would be bomb as a add-on with the other classic sauce cups Also if you could share your currito process with portland/Hillsboro people, for some reason people there don't know how to properly pickle carrots, jalapenos, and onions together. This place is my gold standard for burritos and pickled veggies.

not for vegetarians... since baja fresh closed sadly, I've had to look for other options nearby. thought I'd try this place since it was nearby and cheaper than other places like qdoba (I try to avoid campus anyway). ordered delivery from munchy's, which was super fast. got the giant vegetarian burrito and cheese enchiladas. the burrito was decent, but reminded me more of taco bell's 7-layer burrito (though a bit bigger) than a more 'upscale' qdoba or baja fresh burrito. I was expecting black beans as are usually in 'big' burritos, but it was refried. the enchiladas were too salty, and mainly just cheese. it would have been nice if there were some veggies/beans, less salt, etc... maybe I'm just used to more 'healthy' mexican food (like amy's frozen burritos or enchiladas, lol) but all in all, I don't think this is the place for vegetarians, or vegetarian mexican food, at least if youre health conscious and want something more than cheese-laden fare. if it didnt make me run to the bathroom, I probably would have given it 4 stars for price, convenience, fast delivery and lack of long drive thrus compared to fast food places. but if you just want a vegetarian burrito I'd just go to taco bell or time instead.

Their food may be good to come back for, but their service is not. There's been a couple different visits that I haven't favored the communication. For example, one night, I had been going through the drive thru, but I was parked at the window, having already ordered my food. The lady at the window had been speaking to me and making eye contact, though I had no idea she was speaking spanish because of how fast she was talking, but she wasn't talking to me. She was talking to her earpiece. I asked her "what?" A couple times because I clearly was misunderstanding her. She continues ignoring me while holding eye contact, and then asks, "hot sauce?" Just those two words, which did push my button. I only said "Yes please" to move on but behavior hasn't improved from this restaurant. I feel like there could be a valuable lesson taught to the employee(s) about scripted lines that would help with what to say and how to properly direct their customers. What happened tonight is barely worth mentioning, but a good example for why having a script would be useful. Once I was done giving my food order at the intercom, they only said "ok" now, I'm pretty conscious and know what I'm doing, so I knew it was my cue to pull up to the window for payment. Ideally, I would appreciate a review of my order for confirmation, provided with a total price...
