Chronic Tacos — Restaurant in Costa Mesa

Tried Chronic Tacos for the first time while the burrito was definitely tasty, I can’t say it was worth the $17 price tag, even with guac. My total came out to around $20 with a soda, which felt steep for what I got. That said, the pineapple habanero sauce was a nice surprise sweet heat that really elevated the flavor. Overall, good taste but hard to justify the price. As for the service, it was decent, but I noticed something interesting: the customer behind me seemed to know the staff and got noticeably more enthusiastic and friendly treatment. The food is bland and lacked flavor. I tried the asada fries for the first and last time. The fries are not fresh and were under cooked and were soggy and greasy. Only ate it because it’s pricy and I don’t like to waste food but I will not be eating here again. Service was not so great and I felt like the person making my food didn’t want to be there and would rather be somewhere else. My wife wasn’t a fan of her tacos either. Previous review - 5 stars: Potato tacos 10/10, guac 8.5/10, baja Mahi Mahi taco plate 9/10. Service 10/10. Atmosphere 6.5/10. They have tables outside! Now I'm saddened to say 1 star. I have ordered countless times and had been doing online orders. Recently my parents have gone 3 times in person and the employees are unapproachable.
