Rubio's Coastal Grill — Restaurant in Costa Mesa

I contacted corporate directly about this and I’m posting the same message here as a review: I used to love Rubio's :( this location has never been great but they have somehow outdone themselves in how subpar both the service and quality are here. The prices have also increased yet the quality of their products have decreased significantly. Today, I ordered a grilled gourmet taco with steak and what I received was disgusting. It was wet, the tortilla was broken all over and the meat looked grey and was in tiny cubes like canned pet food. It was borderline slimy. I couldn’t even pick it up but I forced myself to try to because it was all that I had for lunch and one taco costs $6.78. I took one bite and immediately spat it back out and threw the entire thing away because it was so disgusting. I mobile order via the app I had two separate app orders and then I arrived both were ready and hot thats under 15 mins my food was ready! I got salsa and each salsa was clean all around the rim was totally clean cups and lids perfectly stocked and my drink cup was ready with my order.

It was so perfect I was in and out in less than 5 mins and while its not required when I entered EVERYONE said hello and welcome even the kitchen and both women at the front knew I was there for pick up and were ready. Most disgusting experience I've ever had at a Rubio's anywhere. Sure, the food was fine and the service from the person taking my order was great, but it was all ruined by the sound of someone back in the kitchen constantly hocking loogies or clearing his sinuses or something. Over and over again the entire time I was eating. Very unpleasant to think about them being back by the food preparation area.
