I really wanted to like this place. It's one block from my house. I've had take out 3 times. First time was good. Good spring rolls. 1st time: ordered green curry. Good tofu and mix of interesting vegetables including squashes. Overly spiced even though I asked for medium. I wanted to share with my toddler. Nope-too spicy. Not very much rice either. 2nd time: ordered green curry. Asked for mild. Got about a 8-10 spicy. Want to share with toddler. Too spicy. Even smaller portions than before and only bamboo shoots- no vegetables. Still very little rice. 3rd time: ordered the same green curry. Asked to make sure there were more vegetables. Got potatoes (cheap!) and 3-4 small pieces of eggplant. Portion was the smallest ever-actually smallest portion I have ever had at a Thai restaurant. Asked for mild- again got a10 spice level-off the charts hot. What's up!? I'm willing to drive 10 miles for good Thai food. We're done. We gave you 3 chances. Bummer.

Inconsistent ingredients (getting cheap I think) Very small portions for takeout (and getting smaller) No concept of what mild or medium is (you only get very spicy) Spring rolls are even getting smaller.

Edit to add: I normally order very spicy but lately have been wanting to expose my toddler to different flavors. Their "mild" is SO hot I cannot even tolerate it- let alone let my toddler eat it. I feel like they completely ignore your request for mild or they have just already made a batch of curry and don't really care what you asked for and are just being cheap giving...

Used to be my favorite Thai place. Last 2 experiences were not good though. First was take out, where the all food tasted oddly bland and they basically trick you into leaving a large tip (one of those things where they offer you 3 choices, with the smallest being 18%, which is highway robbery for take out). But I thought it was a fluke and was eager to return once they had dine in again.

The second time I visited was at the beginning of April and it honestly made me feel very uncomfortable. I hate being treated like a germ bomb about to go off. This is the only restaurant where I've had this experience and that alone made me not want to come back. But the last straw was the way they transformed excellent curry puffs into boring curry puffs, and took my beautiful, authentic cashew chicken (formerly the only authentic cashew chicken in Salt Lake) and made it more Chinese style. Eww. Plus they won't let you touch the tablet at checkout, so you have to tell them directly what tip you are leaving, letting them and the whole table know how "generous" you've been. Disgusting, manipulative behavior.

I am...

I am so happy to have a Thai restaurant in my immediate neighborhood. Less than one minute away, it is so convenient for take-out. Their food tastes fresh and homemade. I recommend their egg rolls (their dipping sauce is exceptionally good) and the "Thai Noodle Soup". I felt like their jasmine rice was a bit too dry (but everyone has their own opinions on the "best" rice). I will be returning. Give it a try. :) The curries are good too. I just would go with meatballs as your choice of meat because the beef, pork, and chicken have all been tough/dry on occasion.

I do wish that they had a worker to greet you as you come in, because it is sometimes awkward just seating yourself (maybe even just a sign letting you know what to do would be better than nothing). Also, one thing that can definitely be improved upon is speediness (for both takeout and inside dining). I've had the best luck doing an early take-out to beat the rush.

The food is what really shines and keeps me coming back for more. Well done, Nuan's...

Nuan's Thai kitchen is a kitchen that ranks HIGH on my list of good places to eat. I ordered pork Khao Soi, and had some pork dumplings and spring rolls as appetizers. The pork dumplings were fried perfectly, and the sauce that came with them was fantastic. The spring rolls were also fried perfectly and wonderful to eat with their sweet and sour chili sauce. The Khao Soi curry was STRIAGHT 🔥 it was that good! I have only two words for the coconut curry sauce... Flavor explosion! It was one of those curry sauces that made me wonder: how did they do it? How did they make it this good? What wizardry with coconut, chili, ginger, turmeric, cardamom and more did they just pull off? Everything in that bowl: the noodles, pork, shallot, etc. tasted majestic thanks to that curry. I consider this place ESSENTIAL if you live in the Cottonwood Heights area, or if you spend a lot of time playing around in Cottonwood Canyon.

Noodle is not a flavor. Thai food is usually packed with flavor and heat. When I ordered and they did not ask for a spice level, I thought I was in for a treat! Not only was the food absent of spice it was absent of flavor. This was my first time trying their offerings, after a long Saturday of moving. My appetite was raging, and my hopes were high. Got the staples. Pad Thai, zero flavor. Drunken noodles, a bit more flavor, Thai rice… what exactly makes this Thai fried rice? The basil or tomato? They offered the only flavor in this gauntlet of bland rice and hammered veggies. Staff were great! Atmosphere was nonexistent, and I panicked momentarily when I walked in and thought I was in a back room liminal space video, and some vapid eternity was about to consume me. Everyone was very nice! Please season your food. I’ll try it again.

I'm a huge Thai food lover and have tried pretty much every Thai place in the Salt Lake valley. I have a few favorites, but Nuan's is the ONLY place I've found where you can get good khao soi. Having been to Thailand now I'm a lot more picky about the Thai I'll eat in the states. Nuan herself owns/works in the kitchen and she makes amazing food. I do wish the khao soi noodles were made from scratch like I had in Chiang Mai, instead of packaged noodles, but otherwise everything is spot on with the flavor profile and spice. Everything I've had there is really really good. It's not a place you'd see driving by so definitely go out of your way to try it!
