I went the Cottonwood Heights location on 10/27/24 around 1:45 pm for an açaí bowl. The staff were extremely unprofessional and appeared more concerned with socializing than helping customers and fulfilling orders. Staff at this location have no oversight or accountability, one staff was actively watching TikTok on their phone with headphones in while ‘working’.
Two staff were adding toppings to açaí bowls ordered and took an unprecedented amount of time due to their socializing. The staff took so long adding toppings and holding the açaí bowls in their hands that when received, the bowls were watery and unappetizing.
Additionally, staff were beginning the process of cleaning well before closing time, bringing in tables/chairs from outside, sweeping, and mopping as customers were still ordering bowls and sitting down to eat them. All staff working were visibly annoyed and disgruntled to see customers coming in around 2 pm. This Protein Foundry is open until 3 pm. I also witnessed the staff who had been bringing in the outside tables and cleaning and taking out garbage come back in and reach into the toppings bin without gloves or potentially even washing their hands. Even following basic health standards are too difficult for staff.
It’s a disappointment to see how poorly this restaurant is being managed at every level. Clearly quality products and customer service are not important to Protein Foundry at any level of management and this is highly visible in their staff and how they fulfill orders and interact with the customer base. I was hopeful management had taken into consideration all the previous reviews regarding both poor product quality and the apathy, obliviousness, and unprofessional nature of staff, but unfortunately that is not the case. This location was once of my favorite places for quality açaí bowls with good customer service, now I can no longer support or recommend Protein Foundry at...
Read moreThe protein foundry is DELICIOUS. It's very industrial meets farmhouse in terms of decor, which I love. The health nuts in the area seem to gravitate here, too. I very rarely see anyone outside of yoga pants or gym clothes swing by...
All of their food blends fresh ingredients like vegetables, fruits, Greek yogurt and protein without the added sugar, syrups, or ice cream toppings. I'm really excited to finally have a healthy option for food in the area that doesn't seem to cost an arm and a leg.
I've tried a few of the shakeouts and they are pretty filling on their own. If you're a bit more than peckish, though, I'd suggest a shake and a gourmet toast. The Cali is by far my favorite. Who would have thought that a slice of toast with some fixins' on top would help you feel that FULL? But when it's topped with cottage cheese and avocado, it makes sense.
This morning I snagged a pitaya bowl -- which for those that don't know is basically Dragonberry. It was colorful and absolutely delicious, so I'll definitely be adding that to my rotation of food.
My only caution (and the reason for 4 instead of 5 stars) is that sometimes the wait can be really long -- the service is fast, but it's not a drive through. But if you don't mind waiting awhile, you really won't be...
Read moreJust tried PF for the first time. When I walked in the energy there was just chaotic. There were a LOT of employees seemingly doing nothing but goofing off (which is fine when there isn’t anything to do…but there was a line). After placing my order I waited for way too long. After noticing someone way behind me got their food first, I went to the pickup area and saw my order just sitting there surrounded by MANY other orders. My name was never called out. Or, if they did call it out, it wasn’t loud enough, as the music playing overhead was just too loud. The girl behind me walked out without her food as she was also tired of waiting. (My guess is her order had been made and like mine, not called out.) The food is ok. It’s overpriced for what it is, but it’s not bad. I could be talked into going again (and would like to) if the customer service side of things improves. I’m sure my order would’ve been better if I had gotten it after it was made.
As someone who has worked in the food industry, I highly recommend getting a system set up so there’s a flow. There was no flow. Just chaos. Some leadership and direction was definitely lacking. I’ve worked in a pizza place with less people and gotten orders out faster than what...
