This was my first time at Zao and I had a great experience! It was pretty slow and right before the dinner rush. I was greeted by the worker and he explained how everything works and all of the options for the food. I got a banh mi and rice bowl and both did not disappoint! I noticed the bread in the banh mi had been hollowed out and commented that was cool, he proceeded to tell me they do it themselves every morning. Genius! And dedication. I love it! My only complaint would be that I'd like a little more sauce on the rice bowl to cover all the goodies they put in there but 5 stars nonetheless. I love the customizable choices for each dish.#lfthx

I've been meaning to try this place out since we moved here two years ago, and finally came for lunch with my daughter. I was really impressed by all the menu options and how fresh and flavorful everything was! My daughter had a kids bowl with meatballs and I had a yellow curry bowl with chicken and we loved everything. The drink bar was also SO SO GOOD!! So many unique, homemade drinks... I think we tried all of them! I can't wait to come back with my husband. We have a limited diet and there were so many options for us. #lfthx

So basically you go in pick noodles or rice. chicken, steak, or tofu. Curry, teriyaki, or some other sauce. Carrots corn or 1 other vegetable. Maybe they are a cafe for beverages cause with no signature dishes (a chef made a combination flavors sync in taste) I wasn't inspired to return again. The staff seemed shy I asked for a to go no utensils were put into my bag. I was new so I had no idea what was good and said as much. Usually a practiced introduction helps new workers. The dish I made was edible....that's it.

I was getting a rap and this employee Rosa wasn’t letting me put my lettuce on bottom she kept trying to say no I can’t do that it’s going to be the base and you can’t put rice on it, I was like no I just don’t want it on top so put the same amount you would put on top I’m the bottom, she still didn’t understand it so one of her other coworkers Miguel had to explain to her what I meant then she finally did it, also I added more onions instead of carrots, cilantro, and peanuts I was substituting it for fried onions and I didn’t added enough extra onions to be charged for, Miguel wasn’t going to charge me for it but Rosa came over and said no they added extra you need to charge, and I said no there wasn’t enough to charge for extra and I said y’all’s manager didn’t charge me the other day but Rosa called Jesus the manager over and told Miguel that he has to charge me next time and if I don’t want to pay for the extra I can’t have the fried onions, overall I’m not happy with...

Extremely poor experience. The employees only reluctantly made our food tonight. There was a good line of people and only two girls working... until the line went away and then three other people came out of the back to horseplay with the others. the cashier decided to talk to an outgoing employee for several minute while our food sat there waiting to be rung up. They then had the nerve to ask for a tip. Many of the tables were dirty and not one person could come out with a rag. Then, towards the end of my meal, the four employees started blowing up and popping the plastic gloves behind the counter! It was extremely loud and unsettling. It was like watching a bunch of little children playing while unsupervised. I couldn't believe these people were actually "at work". I usually go the South Jordan location, it's the polar opposite of this place. I won't be back, ever. I guess they either don't have a manager or owner that cares what goes on here. Absolutely...

I’ve been to every single zao and it was disappointing to be treated the way I was treated today. The staff on Sunday was absolutely rude. She was an older Latin woman and I never got her name but I gave her a $100 bill and she rolled her guys at me because I was paying in cash. Then she said next time if I ever pay for a meal that price I need to not have $100. She also rushed us while she was making the bowls and the portion sizing was truly a disappointment. If I’m paying for an 11 dollar bowl I expect more than an employee putting a singular cilantro leaf and literally 3 pieces of broccoli. After the super rude encounter we called her out and said we didn’t appreciate the way she treated us and she literally just continued to argue instead of taking accountability. One of the most disgusting experiences...
