They Ruined a planned 5 day vacation! I bought 2 women swim suits and 1 men’s. The lady didn’t take off the anti-theft tags from the women’s wear! It would turn it purple if removed! Not just sound! We went all the way there only to discover that the women’s wear both were unusable. I heard sound but another woman was leaving at the same time as me but I paid so I assumed it was her stuff. I just thought OK. The top of the most important part has 1 on it! The bottom part has them! I had 2 extra bottoms! Couldn’t use a single thing together, couldn’t use the bottoms couldn’t use the top. I can’t go without a top you can’t go without a bottom. It’s a long drive. Lava Hot Springs from Salt Lake City and the only reason to go is the pools!!!!! Hot springs to relax! It’s not a mountainous hiking adventure place still snow. It’s very small. U must have full covered suits as well why got a Nike suit and extra bottoms The Nike bottom didn’t have a tag, but the top did and then the other bottom had a tag so the top was unusable. The inn for our first night had a few private hot pools that was nice but time slots they fill up fast only 2 uses I didn’t need my suit, however they’re not the same as the other big nice pools! Only 1 night then our cabin was available! Fortunately, a partial refunded was given even though they didn’t have to! I explained to the host and showed him photos of what happened with the swimming suits! I absolutely couldn’t use the pools. My son could but I couldn’t. There was a bit of an emergency, but that doesn’t mean that the person checking you out, should completely miss taking those off! They ruin your suit, making them unusable. What’s the point of even paying for them if they leave the anti/theft devices on all of them? Men’s had none! So we had to come back to Salt Lake City we went around Bear Lake and took a longer way back kind of a boring road trip! We stayed in Wyoming, gee what fun! Completely stupid! I still have to take them back and have the things removed, or just give them back and find something I like more. They cost me $100’s for the cabin fees that weren’t refunded. Partial refund 199 a night! We were supposed to be there from Tuesday to Saturday! So we only got to stay Tuesday to Wednesday morning and then had to drive around and come home. I couldn’t even go to the crater that we were planning the last day of the vacation! Ugh! We wanted hot springs experience on our spring break vacation. Ruined 100%! The lady took so long. She was alone while other workers did nothing to help! Too many in line for this anti theft bs! We were also having a real emergency. Not one of employee offered help except for a landline phone which wouldn’t have worked with OnStar. I buy a lot of shirts and other things from this store. I’m never going there again. Not ever! They have lost a loyal customer. I’m disappointed as heck. Ruined my son’s spring break. I tried to buy a swimsuit there but you can’t. Lava Hot Springs they don’t have any stores that sell swimsuits! I thought maybe, but they don’t it’s too small. They barely have enough restaurants or places to stay to keep up with demand! They have a lot of bars. However, an 18-year-old is not going to get into them, and I don’t drink. It was ridiculous! Stressful and tiring I felt exhausted over the bs! Planned 2 weeks in...
Read moreMerchandise: Edit 3/2021: Everything about extra discounts below no longer applies since covid hit. The deals are no longer what you used to get. The store has random selections of clothing, camping, hiking, housewares, snacks, outdoor gear, exercise/fitness gear, cycling etc. You might find a rug or a kit to build a chicken coop, which I actually saw there recently. Most items are from brand-name companies, but some are not. Most items are not current stock that you would find in a regular retail store. Most of the in-store prices are good, some are not. I recently saw a turkey fryer that was actually a couple dollars cheaper on-sale at the manufacturer's website.
Extra Discounts: But if you sign up for their daily emails you can receive a discount code (they call it a keycode) that is good on most items, except stuff already clearance priced. It gives you an additional discount off the marked price. Every Tues the discount is 25% off $125+, 20% off $100+, 15% off $75+. Every Wed it's 20% off, Every Thurs it's the 15, 20, 25 off deal again and Every Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon it's 25% off. You need to watch for different things like minimum purchase requirements or the shipping cost. This can vary. Sometimes shipping is free and sometimes a min purchase is required. They also offer a much larger selection of products online. you can always ship-to-store for free. If you order on a Fri or Sat. It often arrives at the store on Tues. (For shipments to the Cottonwood store) When shopping in the store, ask for the current keycode or show them your email with the code and they will apply the code at checkout.
Ebates: You can add Ebates to your browser and get an additional 2 to 15% off your purchases. This is subject to change and it changes often.
Credit Card: You can sign up for the TJX (TJ-Maxx, Marshalls, Homegoods group) credit card and get a $10 off certificate for every $200 you spend and a one-time initial purchase discount.
Returns: Returns are easy but you can only return in-store purchased items for 30 days and online purchased items for 40 days. If you use it and it fails after that time you're out of luck. If I could rate this separately I would give it only 1 star. This is way too short of a return period. At this store you might find a really good deal on a coat and cold weather is still months away. Before you get a chance to test the product the return window is long gone. In 2018 the return window is extended near Christmas. Items purchased during the Christmas season can be returned until Jan 20, I think is the date they told me. So, if it is a Christmas gift the item can be returned if needed.
Customer service: You pick up shipments at the back of the store. There isn't a sign to tell you this. When you get back there there probably won't be anyone at the counter. You'll have to find someone who can help you. Pick up is quick and easy once...
Read moreI have shopped at the online Sierra Trading post for years and am a loyal fan. Great prices and great products. This brick and mortar location though has been TERRIBLE to work with.
I live out of state, but knew I would be in cottonwood heights for work so I placed two orders online for in store pickup here hoping to avoid shipping costs and get items faster. I went to pick up and was only given one of the orders. I didn't realize it till I was back home (in Idaho). I called in and after back and forth of them not finding the order then finally finding it, I was told it had been labeled under the wrong name. They said I could return it or they could hold it until I was back in town. I asked them to hold it since one of the items in the order was out of stock online and this was my only way to get the item. They said they could and I was grateful.
A few weeks later the item I wanted - a specific pair of trail running shoes - was back in stock in my size online. I ordered them and just paid the shipping to my house so I could have them sooner. I called into the store to have the order on hold returned and the employee (Zeke) told me to call corporate customer service and that they could not help me with an order sitting in their store that I needed returned. I called corporate and they told me they couldn't help and the store would have to help. I called the store back and Bobby picked up. I tried explaining the situation to him and he frustratedly asked for "just an order number and name" so I gave them to him and he said he couldn't find the order. I reexplained the situation and asked again for him to check but under the other name the order was incorrectly placed under. He found the order in the back and then told me that they were too busy for him to return it and help me and said he would call me later and hung up hurriedly.
That left me extremely frustrated but I decided to let it go and call on a different day and hopefully get a kinder employee. Bobby called me back 30ish minutes later and said that he returned the item. I asked for a receipt of return or some confirmation since this whole thing had been such a headache and I did not want to have another mess to figure out if my card was never credited back the money. He said he would sent it to me.
I then got a text from his PERSONAL cell phone number with cell phone pictures of the order box and receipt including my name, phone number, and address. This has to violate like a million personal data privacy and GDPR laws.
Needless to say I am never ordering to store at another brick and mortar Sierra store again, especially...
