We are from the valley and are staying in cottonwood. We saw this place as we drove in and saw that it was super cute. We love old diner vibes. The service is not the style of sit down and someone takes their order. I thought it was cool that we check off what we want and give it to them and they verbally confirm that it's what we want. They do bring the food out to you, but again don't expect the modern service style, which is not a bad thing we love it!
In my opinion, I had the deluxe cheeseburger and it was probably one of the best I have had in a long time. We were also super impressed that they had gluten free buns. My wife has Celiac disease and while we know there is always a risk of cross contamination when we eat out, they took care in the request of being gluten free which we appreciate. The fries were good, I could see if someone says theyre too salty because they are heckin salty but I love salt so it was perfect for me.
We didn't have too many interactions with the staff but every time we did if we had a question they were pleasant and kind.
As like everything these days money is a factor. Everything is a la carte- no combos. We got two fountain drinks, two orders of large fries, I got a deluxe burger with cheddar cheese, mayo, lettuce, pickles and grilled onions. My wife got a double deluxe burger, gluten free bun, mushrooms, cheddar cheese, Swiss cheese, pickles, lettuce and mayo. Which came out to roughly 60ish dollars for all of it. We did select items that I expected to have an upcharge. Still, price is probably the only thing I could say negative about this place but unfortunately that's everywhere now a days. It ended up being worth it because of how much we loved the food and vibe.
When we come up here again we will absolutely stop by. Might even come by tomorrow because they have shakes which I was too full to try but absolutely want to!
Update went back for shakes the next day, my wife got strawberry ice cream shake with sprinkles and whipped cream and I got vanilla ice cream shake with bananas, peanut butter and whipped cream.
Sadly my wife did not enjoy her shake, I absolutely LOVED mine. My wife tried mine and also loved it so I think it was just the flavors she picked that made it lack luster. But my combo was the bomb dot com. Will definitely come back when we do...
Read moreI ordered a reuben sandwich, fries, and shake. When the food came out, there were so little fries, it was laughable, the fry container wasn't even halfway full, after a few minutes the owner brought out more fries as he had noticed that I didn't get enough, he said sorry. The fries didn't look fresh, they were dry, and very thin, I'm a fan of thicker fries. The sandwich had the edges of the bread burned, and the sauerkrat had a discoloration like it had been sitting out too long, the sandwich didn't taste too bad. The milkshake was not very sweet, and it was mostly liquid, and tasted like half and half milk. I've worked at some popular fastfood places in the past, and what I recommend is to cook the fries to order, make sure that condiments and food items are fresh, and add more ice cream to your shakes. We were the only people in the restaurant, so things could have been much better. Also, we sat at the counter at first, and the lady told us to grab these papers near the door, fill them out, we filled them out, and then she had us walk to the cash register to order and pay. If I were her, I would have taken the order papers from us to not make us get up, and just have us pay from where we were sitting, just a suggestion, why ask for a tip if all you do is take the order at the register, and then make the food and bring it to our table? I would never go to this restauraunt again, based off of the owner being there, and things weren't very good, usually the owner will take some more pride in the food...
Read moreI've been going to this joint for quite a while, and I've noticed that staff doesn't stick around very long... it seems every time i come in my favortie waitress has been replaced. On multiple occasions I over heard the manager being very degrading towards the Lil waitresses, and even sometimes yelling at the cooks and threatening to get physical! I was appalled that my grandchild had hear a grown man yell at his employees in such a way. At this point I had to ask for boxes from a waitress so that we didnt have to hear anymore, mind you all in customer view! On another occasion I witnessed him go up to a lady at her table, I don't know what the problem was with her order, but she asked for a manager because he began raising his voice, and he yelled "I am the manager!" he came back smiling smugly and aggressively put To go boxes on her table, I have never witnessed such disgraceful behavior in this restaurant or any other. I stopped going for a while but came back because my family loves this place, but I was shocked to see him berating a girl who couldn't be any older than fifteen. I don't see how someone with such a terrible attitude towards customer service retains a customer service job. I know the owner isn't always at the restaurant like he used to be, but surely he knows what's going on inside his restaurant if they keep losing...
