Let’s do the math:
Service - Solid 5 stars! Exceptional host/waiter and bus-man.
Salsa - 4 stars. Fresh chunky veggies, thinner consistency and not spicy but still super tasty.
Queso Fundido - 0 stars. It’s was already congealed by the time it hit table, despite the cast iron skillet was still hot. Microwaved? I had to eat some of it with a knife and fork laying chunks of it on tortilla chip. Zero flavor. Disappointed since I love queso and usually only order it on vacation. 99% was not consumed.
Fajita Burrito - 3 stars. Ok. Had a different, sort of sweet taste? Meh. Had a layer of something less pleasant to chew? Possibly a layer of that cheese?
Green Chili Soup - 3 stars. The broth is good.
Chili Relleno - 2 stars. Again, the cheese filling texture was off putting and zero flavor.
Cost - 3 stars. Without alcohol, 1 app, 1 main, soup, a la carte chili relleno came to $47 dollars. The service was worth it but we feel, considering our food experience, it’s overpriced.
Exterior/Interior - Beautiful. Whomever did the interior was great. Beautiful entrance from imposing exterior doors to the beautiful green plants just inside. Rope wall separating rooms was on point, gorgeous metal art and a cool bar design utilizing overhead space. It would be a great place to...
Read moreI was in Cottonwood for a few days, visiting from San Francisco. I saw some of the negative reviews. Yet, the friend that I stayed with suggested that I dine here.
I walked in and was immediately greeted by a smiling and friendly hostess, who promptly got another staff member to sit me down. Within 90 seconds of sitting down a waiter was at my table taking my order.
I ordered the Taco Tuesday special, and I was a bit skeptical at how fast the meal arrived at my table. Yet, the taco shells were extremely crunchy and all the ingredients were fresh. Plus, a Mexican restaurant really earns points with me, based on their rice and beans. The rice was hot, soft and fluffy. And the beans had a good consistency and were flavorful, as not one time did I even have to reach for the salt shaker.
Plus, the amount of food they put on that large plate for under $7 was ridiculous, and that's meant as a compliment. Several times the staff stopped by my table to make sure all was well. Yet, they appeared caring and courteous, and not intrusive or overbearing.
It was lovely chatting up the manager, Adan, and my server, Edgar. This place is not flashy or showy. Yet, the food had some character and more than...
Read moreHonestly, this was the scariest experience I’ve ever had at a Mexican food restaurant. When we walked in, we were seated immediately seem to be the only customers in the restaurant. We were given chips and salsa fairly quickly, and the waiter came to take our order within just a couple of minutes, but when our order was taken, we had ordered two meals but only one was brought out and the waiter seemed much more interested in watching a soccer game than helping customers so I called him over to our table and told him that it was supposed to have been two meals not one, and he quickly brought another meal out, but in the Time that we were waiting for the second meal, something came flying out of the kitchen and hit the bar and caused a bunch of bottles to fall with a very loud, crashing sound, which scared both my friend and I who I was having lunch with. It seems as if somebody in the kitchen was upset about the soccer game and decided to throw a temper tantrum. Seems extremely unprofessional to me. My friend has PTSD and that caused her to kick into fight or flight mode and we had to leave. It’s unfortunate because we’re locals and we won’t be going back to Plaza Bonita as we...
