My experience was not good due to our tables server. We ordered a tamale and it had a hair in it. She took it back and bought it back stating it was corn husk hair. That tamale should be exchanged for another one. I ordered green chili enchiladas and it came with sour cream and white cheese on top. It looked delicious. But due to me being on chemo my taste buds give my food a bitter taste. So I asked if they could give some without all the toppings. She made a huffing sound. But took it back and brought it back with it being topped with white cheese and lettuce. I just took those off. She never came back to see if we needed anything not even a refill on our drinks or water. She then came back while we were eating and asked us to pay our bill. So I did I also gave her a tip she didn't deserve. I asked her for boxes and containers for my salsa to go. She brought those and just walked off before I could tell her I still would like the salsa container. So I asked another server. In all this time they were giving us dirty looks. So I got up and explained to one of the servers why I needed different food due to my chemo and let him know the food has been good. He thanked me for explaining. But when things go wrong it ruins your experience. Next time I go when I'm off chemo since I like tortas I hope I have a better server that way I will...
Read moreFirst it was the Sedona location that we stopped eating at, due to the over priced food items($39.00 for two burritos al a carte. Now the Cottonwood location has gone too far. Four of us today thought weâd give this location a try for taco Tuesday. Expecting it to be busy and it was not. That was good! Two of us ordered tacos and two ordered off the dinner entree. The guacamole on the entree plates was brown and looked like yesterdayâs. The tacos had less than a tablespoon of meat on them. We asked for a second round of chips and were told we would have to pay $2.00 for additional chips. However, the guy sitting by himself at the table next to us received the same size basket of chips the four of us received. Our basket of chips was mostly crumbs, not full and had only a few full sized chips in it to begin with. I guess if we come here again we will ask to be seated at separate tables and all pay individually with our credit cards⌠That way we each get our own basket of chips and they have to pay for each card transaction! Why would one person get the same size basket of crushed chips as a table of four? I/We are locals and we do mind about your pettiness of a $.20 basket of chips.. But, itâs okay there are other places we can and will eat in the future!!
We have been customers of the above restaurant and their locationâs for many...
Read moreAs my faithful followers know, Iâm on a lifelong quest to find the best chimichanga that planet Earth has to offer. My quest led me here, to Tortas de Fuego, in Sedona.
It was difficult to order a bean and cheese chimichanga, but eventually the staff figured out how to make it work. It sounded complicated, and the waitress was having a significant amount of trouble, but Iâm grateful for their efforts. Eventually they figured out how to make it work.
As for the chimi itself, Iâd give it a respectable 9 out of 13 on the universal 13 point scale of chimichanga deliciousness. It was a bit flat and underfilled, to be honest. And the cooks didnât let the oil drain adequately, which meant I was left with an oily chimi. Such a shame. The flavors were on point, the presentation was beautiful, but the execution was lacking in a big way.
As for the staff, they never brought me a water. Yikes! It felt like I was an annoyance, not a customer. No one brought me chips and salsa (not sure if they are free or if I needed to pay for them, but they werenât offered to me).
Customer service was poor to mid. Food was mid. Chimi was delicious, but I was made to feel like a villain for ordering it without meat. My search for the worldâs best chimichanga continues, and Tortas de Fuego doesnât...
