Ray's Tepeyac — Restaurant in Covina

I have been going there for more than a decade. Tonight will be my last. In short: really poor service and scrappy food. And when brought to their attention, nothing was done! Never going back again.

The service was terrible today. 1st, the waiter never came to us to see if we were okay. Asked my boyfriend if he wanted more soda, but not me, even though we had the same amount of soda. I asked for more salsa and he said okay, but didn't bring it. I had to ask him again for it when I asked him for a refill on my soda. The food wasn't as good as usual. I was starving and ate my food anyway. My boyfriend ate about a quarter of his Burrito del Mar because it tasted a bit off to him. When we were just sitting there waiting for him to come, he came and asked how everything was. I told him as you can see my boyfriend wasn't too happy with the burrito and it tasted off to him. He said he doesn't know how it can be off if it is just a basic burrito. A $10+ basic burrito! He took it away and never came back. Though he kept walking around our table, but never resolved the issue. I went to the host and complained about the food and she said that only the waiter can do anything about, and if I really want her to ask him. I said yes, since he took the burrito and never came back. She came back and said that my boyfriend ate the burrito. I said he did eat part of it, but was unhappy with it and left the majority of the burrito on the plate. She said that since he ate it, whether it was just a portion or all of it, she can't remove the burrito. So now I'm being lied to, since originally only the server can make the adjustments and now she said that she wouldn't be able to remove the burrito because my boyfriend allegedly ate it. I told her I didn't expect the whole burrito to be removed from the bill, but at least a percentage reduced since it was bad, especially since we went offered anything in it place and that the server didn't even care to come tell us anything. I pointed out if the burrito wasn't going to be removed, then why wasn't it brought back since we apparently need to pay for crappy food and crappy service. I said we now have to pay for food that we didn't like, and didn't even have the option to finish. And now we both feel sick from the crappy food. I AM NEVER GOING BACK...

If I could give zeros stars I would. We came for breakfast this morning and it was a complete disaster. No menu given, took the server Felipe, over 10 mins to come over and ask if we were ready. Ordered chilaquiles with sour cream on the side. Once food arrived, I found a hair in my rice. We waited a few for the server to come back, but we didn’t see him again. I asked another server if she could have him come over when she saw him (she was very nice). He came over a few mins later, and I showed him the hair. He legit didn’t care. He asked if I wanted a replacement. I had eaten only 2 bites so of course I said yes. I then asked for the side of sour cream as well. He seemed agitated and walked away. Upon coming back, he handed me a plate of just chilaquiles, no eggs, rice or beans. (Mind you, the first plate was still sitting in front of me with the hair still in it). He asked then if I wanted a small side of rice and beans and I said yes. He then took my plate with the hair and dumped it. When he brought me the rice and beans I asked if I could get the eggs as well since I hadn’t touched them and then asked if I could have a fork and again asked for the side of sour cream. He came back with the eggs, no fork, no sour cream. I waited a few mins then got up and went inside to ask for it and the lady told me to ask my server. Uhmm I have and still nothing. I have never had service this bad. When I went to pay, I wasn’t given a partial for the hair in my food or anything. When the lady asked how it was he said not good and she said “oh”....

On August 28 my husband and I decided to go to Rays since we were heading out in that direction, and had not eaten there in over 2 years. As soon as we walked in I told him it's different probably new owners. We were seated and everything seemed ok the first batch of chips they brought us were stale so we asked for a new basket which were much better. I asked for a glass of water to which they brought me with food in it. I let them know and then they brought another cup that had a piece missing from the top. I just put aside and didn't drink it. When they brought us more chips I went to get one and there was a big hair in it. So I called over who I believed to be one of the ladies running the place, I showed her the hair and she said I don't see it, I told her look it's right there. Her reply was even though I don't see it I believe you. I said I'm not lying look then she said oh I see ok I will bring more. Came back with more chips and said ok anything else. My reply was no. I was very disappointed I didn't want anything from them I just wanted a sincere apology. Not a stare of your bothering me. I'm sad because we used to eat there every Sunday for at least 3 years, but when we moved it was just to long of a drive. It is sad that the management there has no respect for their customers or maybe it was just her. We won't be eating there again Thanks for...
