Tubby Tom's Sports Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Covington

We have eaten here so many times. We've had good & bad experiences. After our last not so good experience we didn't go back for over a year but decided to give it another try. The food is so good but sadly, like most places, the customer service has gone way down hill. There have been several times where we waited for quite a while to get our food. We get it, places are having a hard time finding staff & are usually patient. Yesterday we decided to take my mom & grandma for lunch before they had to head back home. We got there at 12. My mom, grandma, & I ordered but my husband ran to the bathroom so I asked the waitress to come back to get his order. So maybe 5 minutes later, she came back & took his order too. Us girls got 10 wings each & an order of fries to share. My husband ordered the cheesesteak. Simple & easy. We finally got our food an HOUR later. We were the ONLY customers in the dining room & there were only 3 or 4 people in the bar. When our food came out, I asked our waitress, who we have had many times, "did they forget about us?" I was not rude, simply asked a question. She says to us, "Well you ordered 30 wings," then as she was walking away remarked how my husband took longer to order! Really? 5 minutes max means you wait an hour for wings, fries, & a cheesesteak? Absolutely not!!! & YOU'RE A WING & CHEESESTEAK RESTAURANT! I could have had a steak dinner with an appetizer & dessert, ate my food. & left to go home in an hour!!! Had she just been honest or just said, "I'm not sure," & not made her rude comments, we would have just eaten our food & went on our way but I won't sit back & have someone make rude, unnecessary comments. I asked to speak to the manager & walked to the bar area where our waitress followed me. The woman behind the bar must be the twin sister of our waitress & said, Gina, the manager was in the back. There was a younger girl sitting at the bar & asked if she could help. I told her I'd like to speak to the manager & asked where she was. She asked me what was going on so I told her all the above. She was very nice & offered to comp our food. I told her if the manager wasn't going to come speak to me, we would just leave. She then told me she's the manager. Ummm.. not sure why the twin told me "Gina" was in back or why the younger girl didn't make aware she was the manager instead of letting the the twin say she was in the back but at that point I was really not happy. She offered to box our food up & we respectfully declined & informed her they should eat it because we didn't even touch it. I hate bashing a locally owned business & usually won't, regardless how bad things are, but I wasn't going to let this one go without leaving a review. We have had issues with this same waitress in the past. I get not everyone is overly friendly, heck I'm not overly friendly myself or may come across unfriendly at times, but I don't rely on tips either & as a server, you can't be a jerk unless you want to work at a certain restaurant that starts with a D that's at the beach, which she'd be perfect for. Sadly we won't be back & will not have reps order our office lunch from here for again. I'm sure they'll do just fine without my business, but seeing it was dead in there, may want to start asking around to find...

It has been sometime since my last visit and was happy with the service and food the other night. We had a chicken philly cheese steak with onion rings and it was hot, fresh and really good. Service was on top of their game and very helpful. Great little sports bar as well with a separate family dining area.

Update: This was not the experience we had the other week when we visited this place again. It was totally opposite and really bad. The young lady that took the order didn't write anything down and when the food came it was wrong. I ordered a chicken teriyaki philly and received a regular philly cheese steak. My daughter ordered clip wings 4 piece and received a 3 piece. Now we spoke with our server and let her know but said we are good with keeping the order and not wasting the food. We had also ordered a kids meal Grilled Cheese with Tater tots for my grandson. I will say that I didn't read that there was an up charge for tater tots and the server never told us either. The Grilled Cheese meal was $7.99 and I am good with that no problem but to upcharge for tater tots is crazy since you messed up the order and it was never said there was an upcharge. When I asked about the upcharge the server said she would check with her manager. The manager said no to removing it and we had to pay it. I asked about the mess up with our order and she told me she had no control over the kitchen and she was responsible for the front end. I told them this is crazy because we helped them keep cost down by keeping our meals and they still felt the need to charge me for the up charge in tater tots. WOW, just charge the card and we will never step back into your restaurant. Now I know it's just one family in the Covington Area but I hope they treat others better than this. I have supported this business owner for years at his two locations but unfortunately this type of service lost my confidence in them doing the right thing for customers. Oh, and no it's not the $1.50 upcharge that is upsetting its the fact your team messed the order up and the customer tried working with your team to keep your cost down and then your team was very petty in...

So I came here because of a TikTok influencer by the name of the 7 foot BBQ, giant. This was my first time coming here trying out their food, I really had a taste for a philly cheesesteak. When I tell you this is by far the best cheesesteak that I have had in a very long time.I honestly really mean that. I drive trucks and I have been all over the states and heard the hype about going to philadelphia and trying their cheesesteaks and in new york as well. I tired both states cheesesteak. When I tell you this is by far the best cheese steak that I have had!!! The meat was very seasoned. It was cooked to perfection the onions, the cheese. Everything was cooked perfectly. The bread that they use was very soft. It wasn't hard, it actually melts in your mouth. My bartender was very nice. Her name is Telsa self she was very amazing. She gave me plenty of suggestions of alcoholic beverages to try. I chose the long island ice tea. "not posted" and it was very delicious. She did not spare on the "ingredients" lol.... Thank Tulsa for a a wonderful experience. If you are in the covington georgia area please give them a try. I promise you will get your money's...
