El Charro Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Covington

Every time we pass we see the parking lot full of cars. We finally decided to go have lunch for our daughters birthday. Worst decision we made. The food wasn't that good. Very bland. For the price you would think the food would be amazing. The burritos were as tiny as McDonald's breakfast burritos. My daughter ordered the kids Mexican burger and the bread was moldy. The waitress was not friendly at all. I sat for 20 mins after my family got their food, before I even got mine. My husband had to tell her twice that I was still waiting on my food. After I got my food she handed me the bill and said pay me. I ignored it as I was still eating. She came back and proceeded to tell my husband to pay her. It was very unpleasant and unprofessional. The wy she said it not once but twice made it seem like she was insinuating that we were going to run off on the bill. Now that was a huge insult. My husband proceeded to tell her about the service we received and she didn't care to even make it right. We are type of people who tip very good when service is amazing. Our tips are always never under $20 but today the tip was zero. We will never go back to this place. Worst experience we have had at a restaurant in a long time. Save your money and energy and keep driving...

Horrible experience from the start. The person who greeted us was very rude and appeared to be put out by us being there. He told us to wait and he disappeared for what seemed like forever. Finally, he tells us to follow the girl, who I think was the hostess.

Then the hostess threw the menus down and almost ran me over as she left the table. Our very rude waitress appeared with no smile, and was obviously not happy to be set. Then she asked if we wanted chips and salsa. We said yes, and then she told us that she will charge us $2.50. We agreed to the cost and ordered queso in addition.

After taking our drink order, she went back to the rude guy in the front of the restaurant, and we could hear her complain that she was set.

The food was inedible! My mother ordered a quesadilla and when it arrived, it was literally greasy hamburger meat on a half toasted tortilla. No cheese!!!

My daughter and I ordered taco salad. Again…greasy hamburger meat, lettuce, and cheese. So gross! No toppings but cheese. When we tried to tell the man who appeared to be in charge on our way out, he ignored us.

Current review. Disappointed over and over again. Customer service has went way down hill. I have politely talked to them each time. They have not hired anyone to answer the phone and take orders. I have called 15-30 times to place an order. I spoke with manager and he knows of many complaints and angered customers but just makes excuses and complains about complaints. My to go order is wrong everytime. They are very consistent. I now check my bag everytime and they get it wrong. I ask for it to be corrected and it is still wrong when they bring it out. A chicken taco with only tomatoes and chicken on it is not hard to make but it takes them 3 trys to get it right on more than one occasion. We enjoy the food but it is too much hassle to order from there or eat there. One time I witnessed a woman in the parking lot sneak two dogs into the restaurant with a baby stroller. I called the manager and he said that it was not allowed but if they don't see or catch them then nothing will be done. I just told him and it would not be hard to find the stroller in the restaurant and see there is no baby present at all near this lady. So done with my favorite Mexican Restaurant in Covington.
