*edited 11/23 to add that after several months and physically going into the store over five different times trying to request a refund for the items I never received but yet was charged for them, plus writing the company from their website and filling a BBB complaint.....and after all that finally hearing from someone from corporate (Qais) stating I would be refunded and finally speaking to the manager (Shawn) after my fifth time (6th visit if you count initial visit )and him stating I would be refunded.....I sadly am able to report that nothing was ever refunded NOR was I ever offered the food that I ordered and didn't receive while I was physically in the store one of the five/six times I went it. I spoke with Qais via text messages and have proof of his offer to refund please see his message pasted here to me that was in response to my online complaint.
"Hey kandie,
this is Qais from wayback burgers. I am the manager and I just saw the review you posted. I had to leave that day because of an emergency, what happened was indeed very disappointing, this is not how we run our restaurants. We truly apologize for the inconvenience and if you are able to come down back to wayback I will give you a full refund with two free shakes !"
I was asked numerous times by the manager (Shawn) in person and on the phone to remove my post. I refused to so he never refunded my money. I just wanted to give an update after several months of trying to get either the product or ordered or my money back and yet nothing has happened after filing complaints via email, in person and on the phone. Even after I did exactly what Qais requested that I do in his text to me by going back to the store over five different times i have nothing so show for the money that they stole from me. This is the type of integrity this restaurant has. They STEAL costumers money and never return it even when the costumer has done everything they asked for that to happen. I'm very saddened and heartbroken that this is the type of service we are expected to accept. I hope this company can learn from this mistake and that it doesn't happen to anyone else.
This was the first and last time that I've ever been to this restaurant. I was driving home late and figured I would try it out since it was on the way home I ordered online through the company website NOT using an app or a food delivery service. I went to pick up my order and I had ordered two milkshakes that were both $6 a piece. No one said anything to me but offered my order and when asked about my milkshakes they said they didn't have any ice cream to make them. I asked for a refund for them and the lady said she wasn't able to and the manager wasn't available. I left VERY upset that they literally STOLE over $12 of my money with tax and I was offered nothing in return. This is 100% unacceptable. I want my money back. The lady said she would call the manager and told me that they would take care of it on their end. I left and a few minutes later she called me back saying that i ordered through doordash and i needed to take it up with them. I had no information for my order with doordash. She said she would call them and no one has gotten back to me. I am so upset I ordered food from Wayback burgers and they were the ones supplying the goods that I paid for. If they couldn't provide that service they should have never taken my money. I will never eat from here again. One of the worst experiences I've had in a long time, sadly. The person at the register must have been new because she did not know much about the menu except what was on the keyboard. I asked for a chili slaw dog but they did not have slaw so I asked what was on their Carolina burger because slaw is a major condiment that product but they did not put slaw on their Carolina burger either. For those that have not had one a Carolina burger is a wonderful combination of a fresh burger with mustard, diced white onion, meat chili no beans, cheese and slaw. They are amazing but I digress. So I ordered a chili dog with onions my friend ordered a chili cheese dog. What I received was a hotdog with mustard, ketchup, and pickle relish. (I should have accepted it). They remade my dog as ordered but what I received was far from what was envisioned. They even interrupted my buddy and I saying grace to ask what kind of onions (grilled or raw) I wanted. When the dogs arrived they had been split and grilled but the small buns did not properly contain the dog. Also the picture on the menu board was of a non split dog. The chili was a thin watery soup with no meat and no flavor which flowed off the dog as soon as you picked it up to eat it. The cheese on my friends dog looked like nacho cheese squeezed out of a condiment bottle in one thin line. They had no plastic knives to cut it up to eat with a fork. So not only did the chili have no flavor the dog did not either. To their credit the onion rings and tater tots were average. While there I heard two other orders were incorrect.
Bad food, Bad staff, bad management and two dogs, two sides and two drinks for a bargain price of $26.54 I will never be back. This is obviously a franchise with very loose controls which will hurt their other locations. Donāt waste your time or money these people donāt know how to run a Restaurant which makes me wonder about food safety and sanitation. It was a new location but the equipment I could see looked used and they were trying to get a grill fixed while I was there. And as it is a franchise also note no uniforms sloppy clothing. Soā¦, took us a while to even order. That employee walked away after waiting on the guy in front of us, a guy walked up to the register, took off his gloves and then just looked up at us and stood there. No greeting. No nothing. I asked him how he was doing today. No reply. I ordered and now wish I would have just left at that point. Note: The guy in front of us in line went back up to the register again later and questioned her again about the cost of his orderā¦. and then she admitted she had made a mistake. Meanwhile we waited about 30 mins for our food. I then went and stood at the pick up area and after watching two burgers be smashed on the grill a bunch of times as they were being way over cookedā¦, they put them on the prep table, dressed them and then they sat there getting coldā¦. Then I noticed they were dressing an impossible burger, which I thought might be mineā¦, and putting toppings on it that I didnāt orderā¦, and I was right! They made a new one; more time⦠A guy who ordered about 10 mins AFTER us for his food first! No one acknowledged or apologized for the wait. I would have just asked for a refund and left but didnāt have any more time to waste and needed to eat. The burgers had little taste and were indeed over cooked.
