I kind of randomly pulled in here because I was having what I suspected to be carbon monoxide poisoning from driving my car, so I needed to get out of it and find a place to stay for the night. I half-stumbled up to the desk and kind of just blurted out that I needed a room because I wasn’t well, I wasn’t 100% thinking straight and was kind of disheveled. However, the woman at the desk, Grace, was incredibly patient with me and willing to work with me stumbling over my words. After I got a room, I asked her to call me every fifteen minutes for about an hour just in case something went wrong with me, which she did diligently. I eventually went down to tell her that she didn’t need to call me anymore since I was feeling a little better and because I was going out for a walk to try and get some fresh air to help recover faster. She instantly offered to keep track of how long I had been gone, so she could call for help just in case I was gone for too long, like if I collapsed during the walk. Fortunately everything ended up perfectly fine. I went out a couple more times after that, and each time I came back she would ask if I was doing ok and feeling better.
I cannot commend Grace enough for just keeping an eye out for me, a complete stranger who just happened to walk into her workplace. I’ve had plenty of instances and places where I was overtly not well and the staff for those places were just like “ok whatever”. It is greatly heartwarming to see people looking out for one another during this time where many are focused on taking care of themselves. Grace could’ve easily just handwaved me away and told me to call an ambulance if I took a turn for the worst. Instead, I’d say she went above and beyond just to make sure this one person was ok throughout the day.
If the rest of the staff is as diligent and caring as Grace is, then you will be taken care of and watched out for here. I cannot thank her enough for just keeping an eye out for me when I...
Read moreSECURITY ISSUE!!!! We stayed here Oct 17th on our way home from Myrtle Beach. After checking in, we laid down to relax and after 15 minutes my wife thought she heard someone at our door. She got up and put the deadbolt on and a couple minutes later this guy OPENED our door. Thankfully the deadbolt stopped him from getting into the room. My wife opened the door and yelled "there's someone in here!". We immediately went down to the front desk to complain and the manager just said oh it was a mix up, I'll take 20% off your charge. Really?? That's all you have to say about a serious breach of guest security?? To make matters worse, when we checked in we stated that we wanted to pay cash, which the clerk said yes you do that in the morning and I'll put a note on your account. She insisted that my wife swipe her Visa, saying oh it won't be used. Well guess what? When we went to check out the next morning our Visa HAD been used. Since we're Canadians we prefer using cash so we don't get charged the exorbitant exchange rate. Just got our Visa and low and behold we lost $7 on exchange. My wife emailed Best Western head office to let them know about both issues, got an email saying to call in which she did. The girl on the line said you'll hear directly from the manager of the hotel. Well that was last week and haven't heard a word. We've stayed here many times without any issues. You can bet we WON'T be staying...
