The wife and I noticed this place on our way to La Bonne Bouchee bakery. We love rotisserie chicken, but not this place! We get it all the time from Wal-Mart, Schnucks and Dierbergs. Stl Rotisserie doesn't even compare. They were out of diet soda, so we got waters. No instruction that we should get our water from the fountain. The chicken pieces were very small, had an odd flavor and were overly salty. For being dark meat, my chicken was actually dry. As a person who brines and bakes chicken multiple times per week, I can tell you the chicken I was served went over 200°F, probably 205°F. The green beans tasted like they were barely heated from frozen with ZERO fat, seasoning or salt added. They squeaked as I chewed them. My garlic potatoes were meh...a little too salty, but they are what earned the 2nd star. How exactly does one over-salt potatoes? My wife got 1/4 chicken white with salad and fruit. Her chicken was also on the dry side. Her salad had croutons that were soggy, like they had been put on the salad a couple of hours ago, a lid put on it and put in the fridge. She liked her fruit salad. To top it all off, the guy said if I had a chip in my card I should use the top of the card reader. I held my card to the reader and the tip request popped up and my card gave them an 18% tip....FOR COUNTER SERVICE! WTF?!?! The chip reader is on the bottom. I'm curious if that was intentional. Overall...not even remotely close to returning to this...
Read moreIn all honesty, I would probably give this place 2.5 stars. My son and I personally liked the chicken pretty well, but that's where the love affair ended. My wife didn't care for it, since the skin on hers was mostly burned. The sides were really the worst part of the whole experience. I got the spicy beans and potato salad, and the beans were ok if not a little bland, and the potato salad was decent. My wife and son got the potatoes, which by the way they looked and felt when biting down, had been on the warmer since lunch and dried out considerably. She also ordered the rice, and they even put beans on it and she said it was very dry. I guess all the effort goes into the chicken, and the sides are forgotten about. I personally would go back if more quality control was performed on the sides, but factoring in the drive, it's just not worth it for me.
In summary, the chicken is good, cooked over a wood grill = better flavor. I would recommend popping in for a chicken to go, and then get some sides elsewhere. Good prices overall, but when you factor in bad sides, it becomes a bit less of a deal. EDIT I emailed someone at STL Rotisserie about the sides, and he apologized and offered to throw something special in if we'd give them a try again... we may if we're out that way again for something else, but it's a...
Read moreI had a very unfortunate experience with this place when the owner failed to fulfill my catering order for 20 people even though it had been paid for 4 days before. I would feel differently and leave a better review had he kept his word to compensate us in some way or make right the mishap that delayed the timeline of our event. I was a first time customer who decided to give them a try based on other people I know who have used their services before, but after my experience I will not return to this establishment. The staff that work there was nice and helpful, but unfortunately that doesn't make up for the inconvenience of not receiving the order I paid for. Aside from the potatoes being hard and overcooked, tasting like they'd sat all day the food was just ok. The best dish was the garden salad. This place is just not worth the price, time, or trouble especially if they cant do a better job with...
