One of the weirdest experiences I’ve had in a while. My in laws are visiting and after a walk, we decided to take them to our local donut shop which we frequent quite often. Big mistake. After buying a couple donuts and drinks it started raining very heavily and since our Uber was 5 min away we decided to wait inside. Big mistake, huge. An employee told us once we paid, we are no longer allowed in their store. Company policy. We thought he was joking when the manager chimed in and told us to go sit outside. But it’s raining my wife explained. She wasn’t having any of our twisted logic. Mind you, we were not loud or disturbing, we didn’t bring outside food, or where on the phone. My father in law, a senior citizen tired from the walk sat down on a chair (why have chairs if customers cannot sit on them?) with his coffee, I was checking the menu to decide what to order for next time (there will never be next time), and my wife was trying to fix her lumpy, disintegrating matcha. Two minutes pass and the employee tells us again, quite forceful this time, we have to leave. Now. He suggests we sit inside. Inside the business next door that is. But we didn’t buy anything from there, we bought from you, and we’re literally waiting two minutes for an Uber. The Manager again offered the voice of reason, she doesn’t want to get us in trouble but she’ll involve security if she has to. She said and took her phone out. She cannot have paying customers inside her business. Are we trespassers? Did we break in? Did we not pay for our donuts? The costumers behind us left, without buying anything. They didn’t want to give money to such a business. Can’t blame them as we did the same and returned what we purchased and got a refund. I don’t care if your donuts are delicious (which they can be, but not always, and they leave the worst taste in your mouth) that’s not how you treat customers. That’s not how you treat loyal, paying customer. But really that’s not how you treat any person, let alone a senior citizen. You ofer him water, not the door. Shame on you Sidecar....
Read moreSo my son got a craving for some donuts and i wasn't up for your run off the mill ones. My wife said that a Sidecar Doughnuts just opened in Culver City and so away we went.
We arrived there and the shop was very impressive with a large side window showing where the donuts are made. The interior was very clean, neat and minimalistic. I liked it. The donuts were on display and looked scrumptious. And away we went!
We tried 7 different donuts and I'll list them in my order of preference. Maple Bacon. Great flavor and a surprisingly light donut. Vanilla Bean Glazed. You can actually taste the vanilla in the donut and the glaze is just right without to much sweetness. This was the family favorite for sure n Dulce de Leche churro. Heavier donut but the flavors were good. Not that distinctive but nice. Old fashion. Heavier donut but a great classic. Gluten free strawberry shortcake. Not bad for a gluten free donut. Not my style but pretty good. Gluten free huckleberry. Ditto. Lol Choc-a-lot. Surprisingly I didn't like this one much. Perhaps it was too overbearing and more a club to the head versus the others that were more subtle flavors. Of course my son loved it.
I'll definitely be going back to try more of their flavors and want to try their malasada special to see if it's as good as the...
Read moreJust discovered this donut shop on my way home from work. Had to try this place out because it looked very different from a typical donut shop. It is a cashless setup and one can see that they make these donuts by hand and in small batches at a time. They do run out rather quickly because people do buy up these donuts. May end up with a very limited selection to choose from unless one is willing to wait for the new batch of donuts. One have to be very patient because they are making everyhing by hand and are doing their best to keep up with the demands. The wait is worth it.
These donuts are incredibly DELICIOUS!!! because they are freshly made with the best ingredients. One can't help but to savor each and every bite. So far, had the Lemon Poppyseed, Maple Bacon and Choc-A-Lot. These donuts are one of a kind experience.
Got their Iced Matcha Latte with almond milk. Their Matcha is very high quality caliber and one could taste it in every sip. Also got the Passion Fruit Soda and with this hot weather, this is the MOST refreshing soda ever.
It is on a pricey side but with what goes into making these donuts and drinks, etc. it is worth it. Went to this place twice within two days because of wanting my other family members to experience these donuts. Needless to say, they were blown away...
