Was excited to try this place since it’s local and there aren’t too many good handroll spots but ended up having a poor experience.
I ordered the 5 handroll set but substituted the scallop roll for a second tuna roll. I received the first four rolls (tuna, albacore, salmon, shrimp tempura) and waited for the fifth which never came. The white dude with greasy hair and tattoos came around and asked if I had any other rolls coming and I let him know I was waiting for a second tuna roll that was a substitution for the scallop roll. He asked if I had already received the shrimp tempura roll and I told him I did. He then tried to tell me I was done and had no more rolls coming and took my plate and chopsticks away even after explaining that I was waiting for the substituted roll. He finally realized I was missing the roll but did not apologize. Honestly pretty rude and embarrassing for him to question a customer like that. Food was okay but I won’t be coming back here. I’ll stick...
Read moreWhen I first stumbled upon this restaurant I was blown away by the food and the quality of ingredients also at that time the server convinced my friend and I to try the bar instead of the regular cut rolls, fast forward I have truly found a love in this place however I began to notice the lack of service that was once there, this visit 2/22 it took over 5 mins for someone to acknowledge me and take my order, servers hardly checked on me to ensure if everything was okay or if I needed anything else or extra, I’ve counted 3 servers on the floor and they’ve all walked passed me without any acknowledgement, it honestly pains me to even write this review because it truly was my favorite place but the servers are biased and choose to help who they want or feel is going to tip them well, the service has unfortunately went down hill from when I first started...
Read moreGood handroll spot in Culver, but still prefer Kazu Nori over it.
We were seated promptly, only bar seats available. The interior is clean and remodeled, but there’s something off with the design. Lights are super bright and it just didn’t feel comfortable compared to other restaurants.
Service was fine. We had to ask for the hand towels that are given to all guests, and were given to the guests who sat next to us after we were seated.
Food was mostly really good. Loved the appetizers, especially the crispy shrimp. Handrolls were fine - the shrimp tempura one was the only gross one. Shrimp inside wasnt hot, and the tempura had greased through the nori wrapper making it wet. Very unappetizing, like I got one that was made 30 minutes ago and sat there until needed.
Friends in Culver enjoy this spot, and would give...
