You'd think New Year's Eve that both food and service would be sub par at a restaurant. The experience gets worse when it's a big dollar meal! Well, Al Biernat's North was NONE of those things! We were promptly greeted and sat upstairs. Chris (our server) was on the ball with us, as was his support staff. The bread, lobster bisque, and wedge salad were all excellent starters and the portions were very nice. I split a Prime Tomahawk Ribeye ($130) and with the AuGratin Potatoes and Creamed Corn, it was more than enough for both of us. Our third had a 12oz Filet Mignon with fries. I don't know how they prepare the fries, but they are the best fries I've had (including my previous favorite in 2023 in Amsterdam)! Dessert was a bowl of Blood Orange sorbet that was nothing short of knockout flavor and portion. Some people will not like seeing $130 for a steak or $9 for a soup, however, it goes beyond the product itself. The service was impeccable, especially for an evening like NYE. The Tomahawk was every bit as perfect as my previous visits. There's definitely something to be said for consistency! Last but not least, I accidentally left my credit card with the payment and had a phone call on the way home about it. Most restaurants have no way to phone you, however, through my reservation, they came through. All in all, I must recommend and give Al's 5 stars!

I visited last year after beating the big "C". It was a "victory" brunch for myself as well as a friend who had recently took on a new role in his career. Our server and his assistant were amazing, super friendly, helpful and relatable. Great atmosphere, clean establishment, and nice decor. We ordered the Buttermilk Pancakes, Lump Crab Cakes, Smoked Salmon Breakfast Nest, Calves Liver, Mama Laverne's Chicken & Waffles, and ended with the Seasonal Fruit. Did we finish everything in one setting? Only the breakfast nest and fruit, lol, it was definitely a lot of food. I greatly enjoyed the following: The Lump Crab Cakes were fresh, packed with flavor, and addicting. Mama Laverne's Chicken & Waffles exceeded my expectations - I was first introduced to the plate via a church announcement - and the recipe and taste were phenomenal. The Calves Liver may require an acquired taste, and I can honestly say that I appreciated it much more the following day 😅 - plus it's packed with nutrients and protein. The Seasonal Fruit was beautifully presented and a great way to end our meal on a super healthy note with a sweet delight.

Went on a Sunday early afternoon meal celebrating a birthday. There were 7 of us. I didn't realize it was a brunch menu. I'm not a fan of brunch but it makes sense since it was brunch time and my fault for not knowing. Ordered the beef wellington, potato au gratin, and Brussel sprouts for appetizer. Had to order couple sides because they didn't have a single vegetarian option on the appetizer menu. For the entree, I ordered the chicken fried chicken which comes with mashed potatoes, green beans, and a biscuit. I enjoyed all the food. Perfect portion and only $20.00. Finished the meal with an Irish coffee. Even tasted great. The only thing that lacked was service. Our server had zero personality and missed a few things that are usually expected with fine dining like taking the ladies order first, not refilling drinks timely, asking if we wanted more bread, etc. He just seemed like he was going thru the motions and wasn't very happy we were there. Maybe just a bad day or a lot going on, which is fair, but at this level, fake it. Lol Anyways, I recommend, I would go back, but for dinner.

Incredibly disappointing experience considering the status of this restaurant. Walking in, I expected amazing service, but it was slow and lacked the attention you’d expected at higher-end establishment. Took about 5 minutes after we sat down to get water, menus, and be acknowledged by the waiters. Overall, 20 minutes passed before we even ordered our main course. I fully understand being busy, but even when our waiter did attend to us, it was fast and lacked the personality you’d get at Capitol Grille or Perry’s. At these other two restaurants, waiters were inquisitive and spent time suggesting wine pairings and struck up small talk. I’ve had better service at an Applebee’s. The appetizers were amazing and the drinks were delicious, however, my steak was literally raw and still cold on one side. It was almost as if the steak only touched the grill on one side. They did offer a free dessert, but when the filet mignon is nearly $70, a piece of cake isn’t comparable. Convinced my friends to cancel their valentine’s reservations just based off of my experience.

Al Biernat’s North deserves more than five stars. I’d give it at least another five ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! It was our 30th wedding anniversary and both of our adult children and their spouses were there to celebrate. Steve, our server, and his helper treated us like Kings and Queens, Princes and Princesses. I will never forget that night. We all ate well that night: filet mignon, chicken Parmesan, two of us had the scallops with spinach, sea bass, and finally, the 22 ounce prime cowboy ribeye. Our son-in-law was so stuffed I don’t think he needed to eat for days. We had lots of tasty sides: creamy spinach, roasted Brussels sprouts, steak fries 😍. A couple of us wanted the macaroni and cheese, but we got voted off the island. In honor of our anniversary we were treated to two free desserts. My son and his wife choose the banana bread pudding and I shared the double chocolate cake. Beverages were wine and a non-spicy mango margarita. The only thing that disappointed me was the mango margarita. I like to taste the tequila in a drink and I couldn’t.
