VERY disappointed! Been waiting to go for MONTHS and my guy finally took me when he got into town from work. We ordered 2 of the birria platters. Next, we ordered a side of the bao buns because we were told we could not substitute. while ordering w after inquiring about what they were. They were included on a different platter. My guy HELD up the menu and pointed to what he wanted. The employee wasnt very friendly even though he portrayed he was dressed in a costume(i believe it was a dragon onesie). The total came to over $100. we had water to drink. The waitress brought out a side of 3 birria tacos first, and i SPECIFICALLY SAID" I thought it was a platter, everything comes separate"? she said "it is a platter" and walked away. It was our first time there, so we were like, weird, but cool. Later, she brings out both platters that INCLUDED 3 birria tacos. So, i said "excuse me, we ordered the platter and 3 bao buns in the side" she just said, "thats not what is on your receipt". I said, but we literally just asked you about the platter and why would we order all these tacos? we ordered the bao buns. She said that she would talk someone and come back. He has taken a bite out of ONE taco. When she came back, she said, "well, it says you ordered it on your receipt and you've eaten it". I said, ma'am this isnt what we ordered and we asked you when you brought them out. SHE LITERALLY SAID, "IM SORRY, I CANT DO ANYTHING" THREW UP HER HANDS AND WALKED AWAY! then she was not attentive at all. we asked to to go containers (3), she brought and told me that isn't what i asked for when i originally asked her. SHE WAS RUDE AF. the food was good, we were not told that the ramen were spicy, but this score reflects the horrible customer service. i felt so bad for begging him to make the time to finally take me here, pay over $100 to not be able to get a correct food replacement, and get bad customer service. Sd how you are treated better at food establishments that aren't as fancy and are less expensive. I cancelled my date there with my bestie due to this and also removed my recommendation for this establishment for our quarterly team meeting. I'm so glad i went in advance of theses dates because i couldn't imagine meeting my team in person after working from home for 3 months just to get...
Read moreCris and Johns, they have brought a hurricane of attention to their business over the past few years. I’ve been many times and each time I tried something new. I can say that the mex/asian inspired fusion is not new to Dallas and it’s not all that. Goes to show why Kieth Lee hasn’t stopped by.
Anyway, the food is limited. If they sell out you’re out of luck and they do sell out fast. Big days are valentines, and basically all holidays. Be prepared to be outside waiting in line or be told that the item you want is sold out.
Service? What service? They take your order at the front and that’s it! When you’re done they come by fast and pick up your plates.
Oh there is this rule that you can not substitute any item, out or in, any combo plate. Period. Which is a number one way to not want to order. Because why can’t I change out the wings for boa buns? Or why can’t I change the ramen to wings. There is no reason.
Pictured below is the many times I’ve went and the many different orders I’ve gotten. I’ll add more photos from back in 2020 when I back up my google drive.
I can’t lie, the food looks amazing. But honestly it’s nothing different. The ramen you can get from any other ramen spot for cheaper. The wings are basic wings, the beef pho/ramen you can get better and bigger for cheaper at a traditional Asian spot. The tacos 🌮 is something ALL OVER Dallas now it’s almost like that’s all Dallas has to offer. But yea you can get the tacos from anywhere else for way cheaper.
Sure come here once or twice but that’s it. Maybe bring it up in a convo and tell someone about it but odds are they have already tried it. But recommend it? That’s a no.
Parking is horrible as well! Like I said, be prepared to wait....
Read moreInstagram Worthy Vietnamese Street food. That about sums this place up.
Atmosphere: Hipster, that's the word that comes to mind, Lilo and Stitch playing on the tv, no complaints here packed to the gills in a small room nice enough decor.
Food:
Bao Bun / $3.75 Spicy honey glazed Fried Chicken, lettuce, pickled carrots, dill pickle and sriracha mayo This was my favorite dish very crunchy chicken bursting with flavor a must get.
BIRRIA TACOS / $13.75 (3) Crispy Birria tacos, filled with spicy beef short rib and mozzarella cheese, served with a side of angry pho broth. Overall as good as advertised, the broth could have been a bit "angrier" for me but the meat was great on two of the tacos. Then the third taco was horribly trimmed and I got a huge mouthful of sinew. Ruined this dish for me honestly...
KOREAN FRIES / $8 Crispy fries topped with our house kimchi, jalapenos, cucumber, sriracha mayo, and a fried egg This was horrendous, some of the worst Kimchi I have had, bland and almost no flavor. Don't get these.
Drinks: / $4.50 Horchata - GET THIS perfectly sweet and the perfect amount of cinnamon
Price: It's not cheap, the quality is there and the food looks beautiful though. You wont get out under$20-30 a person
Parking: very small and there is a laundromat next door which is packed.
Service: Very nice overall, they dont sit you until after your order which is great, no seat holding.
In the end the food Looks GREAT is it overhyped, ya probably. If not for the bad piece of meat i got this would be an easy 4. Unfortunately i got it and was grossed out so I have to...
