Ordered a chicken sandwich and a chicken rice plate . I received a chicken rice plate and a lamb gyro. I went back to the establishment to correct the mistake . However, the waitress insisted that I said a lamb gyro instead of a chicken sandwich and didn't want to do the switch. Instead of trying to correct the mistake, the waiter called the owner to further avoid taking accountability for her mistake . Her reason was, "I've been working here for 10+ years , I don't make mistakes." Now, somebody please explain to me the logic behind that statement ? The service in this establishment is absurd. And as somebody who works across the street in the towers and wants something accessible like this place is a disappointment . I wanted to love it, but the service needs to be improved tremendously . First, the employees need to recognize fault and not shift their mistakes on the customers. I just want to eat, not defend and go to court over what I ordered.
Update : let’s note that the owner stated below that I “ordered a chicken sandwich and ate it all” . If you refer to my initial review , I stated that I did order a chicken sandwich but received a lamb gyro. The owner is starting off with deception. To add, the food only had one bite, it was not ate . I stopped eating as soon as I realized It was lamb and not beef. I was going to keep the sandwich if it was beef . I decided to take back when I discovered it was lamb. Again, after one bite. That is not the food being entirely ate. What if I was allergic to lamb or it was against my religious beliefs? The employees stated they could pull up the cameras and was told to do so. Again, yelpers, if you want to argue about your food with owners. Please by all means, Sahara food if your choice . If you want to resolve this matter, pull up the cameras that you guys state you have . You're not going to lie on me to defend your restaurant. Now, how would a person feel if they are being attacked by the owner and they just want to support their small business. The owner refuses to take accountability, once again. This is a clear representation of how their service is , this is how they treated us in the restaurant and they are continuing online. I have no need to lie on an establishment. I did not demand free food. I simply wanted them to give me the correct order. Btw. I am not the same user as Mavia Patel. I am the one who requested the food and the food was brought to me. Thank you very much. Please , SAVE yourself an argument and your valuable lunch time and do not go...
Read moreI recently had an incredibly disappointing experience at Sahara Mediterranean Restaurant tonight. As a Nutrition and Food Science scientist, I am very concerned about the quality and safety of the food served. For appetizers, we ordered Kashk Badenjan, Shirazi salad, and Tahdig. All three dishes were utterly tasteless, and the freshness of the food was highly questionable. The Tahdig was so hard and rough that it felt like it could break a tooth. Badenjan tasted old and of such poor quality that I feared anyone consuming it might fall ill. The salad was lifeless and tasteless. We decided to wait with the main courses, hoping for a better outcome.
For the main course, we ordered Kobideh, Chicken Kabab, and Barg Kabab. Although the presentation was visually appealing, the taste and quality were deplorable. The chicken was undercooked, a serious health risk as consuming raw poultry can lead to severe foodborne illnesses. The Kobideh and Kabab were stale and tasteless. This was disappointing and alarming, given the potential health hazards.
I discreetly approached the kitchen to speak with someone about the issues. I was directed to the Persian head chef. I explained the dangerous quality of the food and politely suggested that it would be inappropriate to charge us for such a substandard meal. The chef's response was dismissive and indifferent, showing no concern for customer service or effort to rectify the situation. It was clear that there was no interest in addressing the serious issues we raised regardless of the question of the bill. I strongly advise others to avoid this restaurant until they significantly improve their food quality and customer service.
Reply to Owner comment (first reply): I talked to our waiter (Sonia) and the chief separately. I have attached the receipt of our visit to this review. Saturday, June 22, at 6:46 pm.
Reply to Owner Comment (second reply): In your first comment, you mentioned that you don't recall me, and I was not in your restaurant, and it was a spam review, which is a lie and a denial. After attaching the receipt, you deleted the first comment and said another lie. I asked your waiter, Sonia, to come by our table and check that the food was intact. I don't want to reply to all your lies individually as the attached receipt confirmed that we paid for the food. I hope you don't delete the second comment and post...
Read moreMy husband and I are on a mission this year — every month we’re trying foods we’ve never had before. May was all about Parisian and Mediterranean flavors, so we decided to check out a place called Sahara, and wow. Just wow.
First off, when you pull up, it’s in a shopping center with plenty of parking. There are beautiful green plants outside that make the entrance feel really welcoming. When you walk in, the vibe is calm and cozy — tables, booths, soft music, and just a relaxing atmosphere. We grabbed a booth and got started.
Since we’ve never had Mediterranean food before, we didn’t really know what to expect. But let me tell you — the flavors popped! We started with water (super cold and refreshing) and then came the dips: creamy hummus and this white dip that had yogurt and cucumber in it (I think it’s called lebni?). I had never heard of that in my life, but it was so good with the warm, fluffy pita bread.
Then came the meat — we tried a variety of kebabs, and every single one was juicy, tender, and full of flavor. You could tell they marinate it with care. It wasn’t just food — it was a whole flavor experience. The staff even came by and explained how they prepare the meats, which we really appreciated.
And the rice! Okay, the rice was totally different than what we’re used to. It was long, fluffy, and cooked in a way that made it feel light but still full of flavor. Definitely not your average rice — and we loved it.
There were a few families there, everyone seemed to be enjoying their meals, and the energy in the place felt very “come as you are, stay as long as you want.” Even though it’s a small business, the food quality and service honestly felt like a high-end spot. It was our first Mediterranean meal, and it won’t be our last — especially not at Sahara.
If you’ve never tried this kind of food, don’t be scared. Your taste buds might just get the surprise of their lives. Ours sure did — and they’re already...
