I've only eaten here once and I doubt I would go again. Despite there being 4 staff to 3 total customers in the store at one time, they provided horrible customer service. My SO & I had never been before--we mentioned this to the staff-- and they did not bother to explain their confusing system. As my salad was being prepared they pointed for me to go pay. I walked there and was rudely told I needed to wait at salads and also to have an order card. Then apparently you need to go to sandwiches next? I'm still not quite sure... 2 of the staff were just standing around most of the time. I have an allergy so when I asked about it I was told I could eat certain soups and none of the quiches. So I ordered one of the soups they suggested. They then come back and tell me I can't have any soup. Fine I'll skip that. With my remaining salad I was asked if I wanted to add chicken by the first staff member. Yes, thanks I told them. When I get to the checkout again (after trying to pay earlier) I mention I am not seeing any chicken. I'm told the salad doesn't come with chicken. I explain, "Yes, I know. I was asked if I want to add some and I accepted." I'm told again the salad doesn't come with chicken. "I asked to add some to my salad." I am still refused. Seriously? I am asking to pay you more money for some grilled chicken you already had sitting on the side and will literally take a second to add to my salad, and I am refused. I'm also asked if the item I'm allergic to is supposed to be in my salad? "No, I'm allergic" I explain, wondering what they wrote on that order card that it's unclear. My SO was treated just as rudely by the staff during this same time period. His $5 sandwitch barely had any toppings on it, just as my $5 salad had only lettuce with a few sprinkles of cheese and nuts. We were offered cookies - I am not sure if they were free or not - and I refused since I was already pretty mad by the interactions. Overall my bill was roughly $20 with 1 soup, 1 salad, 1 sandwitch, 1 cookie, and 1 drink. That would not be a bad price if any of the food had been "paradise" quality. But no, I literally would have gotten a better pre-packaged salad at the grocery store deli section, and I've seen better sandwiches - with more meat - at the gas station. We both decided as soon as we sat at our table we'd never go there again and I immediately planned what other store I'd need to stop at on the way home to actually eat something with substance. This place seems to be a poor imitation of la Madelines, and since there's one of those in the area I'd suggest eating...
Read moreDuring a break in a volleyball tournament taking place down the street, we thought we had 90 minutes. We went to Paradise to get sandwiches and soup. There were only a handful of people there, and 7 cooks/servers behind the counter, so it shouldn't have taken long. After we placed our orders, we got a phone call saying our start time had been moved up. The coaches and girls returned to the tournament, while five parents stayed behind. We told the staff what had happened and that we needed everything to go, and quickly. 35 minutes later, with only two sandwiches in our hands, we finally found the manager. This guy, rather than getting everyone moving, demanded to see our receipts. (At first, we thought he was going to comp our meals, but he was actually wanting to see if we had ordered everything we said we had.)
It took another ten minutes to get four more sandwiches and a cup of soup to go. The manager was unfriendly, unprofessional, and insulting.
Incredible that it could have taken 45 minutes to get six sandwiches and a cup of soup. By the time we got it and got back to the tournament, the girls had already started playing and never did get to eat.
Never, never go here on a Saturday morning. The manager was a big, bald black guy who wouldn't give me his name as we were leaving, and woudn't even turn around so I could see his nametag.
Worst service I've had in years. If there was a category for Service lower than Poor-Fair, I'd have taken...
Read moreMy daughter and I went in for a late lunch at around 2 PM this Monday. The place was deserted, unlike its bustling business before COVID-19. There were 4 service people behind the counter, milling about and none of them attending to customers. Silvia D turned around to "greet" us for a second, but she was too busy to stay, soon disappearing to attend to other matters. We stood there for about 5 minutes before she returned. She pointed to the salad and soup counters and walked away again without taking our orders. I asked about the serving size of the fruit salad. She didn't even bother to respond, just pointing to the general direction of a stack of bowls. Later, another server came up and took our orders. I asked if the fruit salad comes in a smaller size. He promptly took a small bowl, dumped out the avocados in it and filled it with the fruit salad. Hardly a sanitary practice. Sylvia was now stationed at the pay counter, a little more pleasant as it was tip time. I was charged the same amount for the smaller portion of fruit salad. My daughter's Caesar salad was past its primer, as were the melons in my fruit salad. Her BLT has lots of bacon, but seemed to have been made the day before. All in all a dismal experience, except for the pleasant smile of young lady who brought my daughter's sandwich. For the price that Paradise is charging for subpar food and service, we won't be returning...
