Burning Rice doesn't provide a way for the public to contact them, so I guess writing a Google review will have to suffice.
Last week I placed a pickup order and it was absolutely fantastic. I couldn't wait to order again. So today I did! I had a short window in which to walk over and pick up a late lunch. At 2:45 I placed an order to be picked up at 3:15.
As I was walking to the restaurant, I got an email that said the meal would be ready at 2:55. This was not good, as it was already 3:05. I walked into Burning Rice at 3:10 and told the counter staff I had an online pickup order, which they brought up.
I asked them how long the meal had been sitting, and they didn't really understand the question. I explained I asked for a 3:15 pickup, but the meal was ready at 2:55, so at 3:10 it had already been sitting for 15 minutes. They didn't see a problem.
After trying to explain for another 5 minutes, I cut my losses, packaged some BBQ sauce and walked for the exit. That's when one of the staff asked if I'd like the meal re-made. It was nice of them to finally think of that option, but if I had the time to wait for it to be prepared, I would have done that in the first place.
So by the time I had my first bite, the food had been sitting for nearly 30 minutes. It was as you would expect: cold and unappetizing on a bed of mushy noodles. A huge difference from the meal I had last week. In addition, there were no to-go containers for miso soup at the counter, so I assume that is no longer included with lunch. And finally, my order was wrong. I asked for scrambled egg. There was no scrambled egg.
To recap, my order was wrong, cold, and did not include miso soup. I want to believe that this was an unfortunate confluence of events, but would you...
Read moreLunch was ruined for a vegetarian patron because of a lack of empathy and accommodation for their dietary needs.
They simply wanted to substitute the dumplings, which are not vegetarian, for the spring rolls, which are vegetarian. There is no difference in pricing. Yes, it was an accommodation that was asked for after payment was taken, but the price is the exact same.
People with dietary restrictions should not have to feel uncomfortable asking for accommodations. They really should not have to feel terrible during a lunch outing because of a lack of sensitivity from an employee at any establishment, let alone one centered in the City of Dallas.
A tip was even given, and in return, a patron was left feeling uncomfortable and disheartened during their meal.
I'm positive that management would agree that this wasn't worth accommodating one of their guests. I guess we will see how or even if they...
Read moreMy husband wanted to treat me to lunch and the place he took me to was too packed for our liking so he went on Google and found this place. I AM SO GLAD! I could eat this everyday, granted I am a huge Asian food lover but the hot pot option was so good. The crispy rice at the bottom was such a treat. We got a combo that came with dumplings and a miso soup. The dumplings were crispy not steamed, still very good. The miso soup is your usual miso with a good amount of tofu in it. I loved their signature and sesame sauce. We also shared a rib appetizer. They were cooked perfectly. Not too chewy, not too dry, just right. I am most definitely coming back. I love that itâs super laid back and the food is still fresh. No frills. You go in, place your own order, grab a number, grab your fountain drink and when the food is ready they...
