When you order online in the special instructions it says that additional charges may apply. I did not get what I had put in the special instructions because "we are not allowed to charge more" says the guy on the phone at the restaurant. The soup lid was not on so when I got my order the soup had spilled and was at the bottom of the bag. This is the first Chinese restaurant that has not come with the standard soy sauce, mustard, and duck sauce. No napkins or utensils either so don't order it if you just moved in to a place. The guy on the phone said that you only get those when you have egg rolls. Well since my order was entrees they all came with eggs rolls. He did says that we should have received these items but not the mustard. I'm not sure how egg rolls and utensils and napkins have anything ties but okay. I'm not sure how you make peppered steak bland but they did it. The majority of the beef was one strand together by fat. It was disgusting. The sesame chicken was alright. The steamed rice had multiple hard spots but overall was okay. When you order crab rangoon you are expecting crab rangoon not soggy pastries with cream cheese. I found one piece of crab in the one that I ate. They were awful. It is not a good idea to put a fried item in an aluminum heat bag for delivery, they get soggy. My conclusion on this restaurant is that they don't even try. This was my first time ordering from there and my last. It was a complete waste of money. I ended up throwing...

This was not a bad meal. It was a mediocre one. And sometimes that is worse.

Chef House sits quietly on Cedar Springs. One of those late night spots you hope might surprise you. I placed my order online. Walked in. Got exactly what I paid for. No more. No less.

No greeting. The cashier stayed on the phone the entire time. She slid the bag across the counter without a word, just a simple smile. I tipped five dollars anyway. Because you tip on the subtotal. Before taxes. Before fees. Because that is the rule. Because you still want to believe someone in the kitchen gives a damn.

The egg roll was cold. Not lukewarm. Not fading. Cold. Like it had been sitting alone for too long. The wonton soup was fine. It had heat but no soul. The shrimp lo mein came in a medium portion. The shrimp were cooked. The noodles had texture. But the flavor had gone missing. No ginger. No garlic. No depth. Just a full container of silence.

The Dr Pepper was perfect. Because it came from a can. Shout out to the Doc.

The total came to twenty nine dollars and fifty two cents. A dollar seventy five added for the convenience of a forgettable meal. (Despite it being their own website, and no DoorDash)

Chef House is not a place to hate. It is a place to forget. It does not offend. It does not inspire. It simply exists. And sometimes that is the most disappointing thing of all.

Three point two stars. Honest food...

Very sad to write this review. Was me and my husband's guilty go-to for americanized Chinese food especially when i had a few drinks or wanted that lazy friday night home. The bad reviews this place has always had never scared me, because I only ordered a few dishes constantly and there were some I tried that were pretty bad so I never ordered them again. The food was never really great and too greasy, plus the chicken was always chewy tiny little pieces compared to others in the area, but they had the best giant creme cheese Rangoon I've ever had and I've been coming here for those for literally 6 years+. I mean I always feel like I tolerated the food just so I can get the Rangoons because it's so hard to find the type I like. (Needs to be super crunchy slightly salty wrapper with a big gooey, slightly sweet middle.) I'm not even kidding sometimes we would order another place down the street then order this place just for the Rangoons. 😂 I know, I know...that is rediculous. The past 3 times I've ordered they have now started putting way less filling in them and the wrapper is now way overly greasy. I have no reason to come here anymore unfortunately. I understand inflation, but man just charge more instead of changing the recipe, even give one less rangoon if...

If you want fresh then yes the food is fresh. If you want bland then YES the food is absolutely bland. I normally order the shrimp fried rice and it comes hot and fresh but I then have to pull out my sauces and seasoning and doctor it up so that it tastes great! This time I ordered the Pad See ew with Chicken and as usual it was fresh… and BLAND! Anyone who eats Pad See Ew noodles knows that you usually get an option to pick your spice level and that should’ve been my first red flag because there’s no spice option level at chef house. You get the basic simplistic version of Pad See possible. As fresh as the ingredients are at this place it really sucks that they haven’t mastered the seasons and flavors that are also an integral part of Asian cuisine. So yes the food is fresh, but a raw potato can be fresh too, doesn’t mean it tastes good though 😂 smh
