The only reason I am giving 3 stars is because, today, my coworker and I came into eat. We both ordered similar things. I asked for the arugula and tomatoes to be left off. Instead, I ended up not only with them on anyway but seemed like extra. I know the young lady at the counter put no arugula and no tomatoes on the ticket. I watched her do it on the computer and she even repeated to me. We also both asked for ice water to drink. We didn't even get it. I had to ask for it. They did apologize for not giving us our drinks. Whoever was working in the kitchen clearly doesn't know how to read an order ticket very well. They weren't even busy at the time. SMH. Other than those mishaps, the Salmon Bagel was delicious. And one other thing. They need to learn how to check tables for cleaning and learn table touch. It's more effective. I watched a guy cleaning everything but the tables. We had to clean our own table off, and so did some other customers that came in while we were eating. It's a very beautiful restaurant, bright and colorful (eye catching). Just fix a few things and this would a #1 restaurant. I'm posting some of the more positive pictures I took. Even my bagel before I took the stuff that should of been left off at my request. Oh, one more thing the olive mixture was Excellent!!!! This downtown Dallas.

I had the pleasure of visiting Commissary at 1217 Main Street in Dallas, and it was nothing short of exceptional. I ordered the coconut banana oatmeal, and let me tell you—it was delicious. Creamy, perfectly balanced in flavor, and so satisfying that I could have stopped right there. But I couldn’t resist trying more. The breakfast potatoes were a standout—well-seasoned, tender on the inside, and cooked to perfection. The portion size is generous—easily enough to share with a friend (trust me, you’ll want to). The bacon came out beautifully curly, adding a touch of fun to the plate, and both the potatoes and bacon were served in a charming cardboard box with a see-through top. The presentation? Spot on. The atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy, inviting, and stylish—perfect for a relaxed breakfast or brunch. At a price point of $22 for everything I ordered, it was well worth it, though I probably could have just enjoyed the oatmeal and been completely satisfied. But everything looked so good, I wanted to taste it all—and I’m glad I did. If you’re looking for great food, excellent presentation, and a welcoming atmosphere in downtown Dallas, Commissary is the place to go. Five stars all the way! Highly recommend.

We we just happened to be walking around checking out the city and decided to pop in for a drink. BEST decision EVER. We ordered a hot apple cider, mulled wine and an apple strudel (or something similar to it) The mulled wine was like drinking holiday warmth and cheer with actual dried orange and clove in it. Probably one of the best I've ever had. That's saying a lot considering the amount of Glühwein we've consumed in European countries over the years. I was actually disappointed the serving size was smaller than expected. The apple strudel was tasty, flaky and had a good balance of apple bits and filling. The hot apple cider was decent too. But, baby, that mulled wine, chef's kiss. Staff was very friendly too in explaining the types of bakery items and suggesting drinks for my picky nephew that weren't coffee or wine related. Cute old-school soda fountain feel to it. Order and receive your food at the counter, seat and bus yourself.

Commissary Café – Honest Review (Dallas, TX)

I recently visited Commissary in Dallas for breakfast and ordered the breakfast burrito. Here’s a detailed breakdown of my experience:

Food Quality & Taste – 7/10 • The burrito had a good balance of flavors. The chicken added a nice touch, and the cheese was well-melted, which helped bring everything together. • The eggs were well-cooked, but the tortilla was only decently toasted—could have been a bit crispier for better texture. • However, I noticed uneven cuts in the ingredients, which suggests inconsistent preparation.

Price & Value – 6.5/10 • The burrito was $11 with a final total of $14.34 after tax and possible fees. • For the portion size, it was reasonable, but not necessarily a great value compared to similar breakfast options in Dallas.

Service & Wait Time – 7.5/10 • The café was busy with the morning rush, but I received my order within six minutes, which is a solid turnaround time. • Staff was generally polite, but the handling of food raised concerns (more on this below).

Food Safety & Sanitation – 4/10

This was the biggest issue. While observing the kitchen, I noticed the staff member preparing my burrito had: • One glove on, one glove off, which is a serious hygiene problem—ready-to-eat food should never be touched with bare hands. • Looked around before fixing their food handling practices, meaning they only followed proper protocol when they saw a customer watching. • Improperly picked up food with their hands before placing it into the container, which is against food safety regulations.

Final Rating – 6.5/10

While the burrito itself was decent and the service was relatively quick, sanitation issues are a major concern. If the kitchen staff is cutting corners when they think no one is watching, it makes me question how often proper food handling procedures are actually followed.

Would I return? Maybe, but only if I saw a noticeable improvement in their hygiene practices. If food safety is important to you, be mindful of this...

I used to really like this place, then they started changing up the menu and now you can only get certain items on a certain day at a certain time. The burger and fries for example is a classic staple in almost every place around Dallas and the Commissary had the best(they really do have a great burger). Then they changed the menu and you could only get a burger on like a Friday but only after lunch and you can't get any fries bc the only fries they sell is breakfast fries. I understand this might be a business tactic especially if money is tight or if they're short on time but I don't want to plan my meals around their schedule. If I want a burger, Im not waiting till Monday or whenever. I thought okay maybe I could get one of their sandwiches which was a turkey sando or something like that and for like 10$ and it was pretty bad. For that price I can get a good sand-which elsewhere for cheaper. As for their menu items they have an okay selection but if you're pickier or a big meat eater its not for you. Their sides for example are like olives and marinated mozzarella, those are okay if you're having a cocktail party or whatever but not as a regular lunch side, to me they seem like a weird side dish and not a real side. Lastly they aren't a good place to eat if you're a meat lover, they have avocado toast and stuff like that but they took away the grilled chicken and most of the real meaty dishes. Overall I'm pretty disappointed and will most likely not go back. The one good thing is the Mexican...

My husband And I stopped by here for brunch and coffee a few days ago. It came highly recommended by my teenage daughter. We were passing through Dallas on our way home to Fort Worth so decided to give it a try. One thing I can say is the young adults who work here were some of the nicest And gave the best customer service I’ve had in a long time. My husband and I each got a breakfast entrée and both were extremely happy with what we got. His was a bagel with an egg in the middle of it. can’t remember exactly what they call it. And mine was sunny side up eggs on tortillas that they fry. Again I wish I could remember exactly what it’s called. It was really good. The only reason for one deducted star-is my chai tea was barely warm and hardly tasted like tea at all. It was supposed to be a chai tea latte. Although when I asked they did reheat it and add some more concentrate but in the end it just ended up being too sweet. Most coffee places are using concentrates in their chai tea lattes. I know this is the way it is but it is so hard to find a good tasting chai tea latte anywhere it seems. We make these at home every morning from teabags from India, honey and half-and-half also using chai tea spice, and we never go anywhere that compares to what we make at home.I’m pretty sure my husband was happy with his coffee though. I would absolutely suggest giving the...
