Last Friday night turned into an unexpected event when my family and friends stumbled upon Sushya, a cozy little spot that's a slice of Japan right in our neighborhood. It's casual and unassuming, but don't let that fool you—the food here is nothing short of amazing. With its traditional Japanese dishes like teriyaki and udon and an incredible selection of sushi, it was exactly the kind of place we'd been hoping to find for a relaxed evening out. As soon as we walked in, the vibe of the place made us feel welcome. The staff greeted us with big smiles, making us all feel at ease, including my two boys, aged 9 and 5, who were immediately taken with the colorful sushi plates on the counter. They were especially excited to try the sushi and sashimi, and let me tell you, they weren't disappointed. The flavors were just right for their adventurous young palates, which is no small feat! The food presentation at Sushya deserves a special mention. Each plate was like a little work of art, making us almost hesitant to disturb the arrangement. But of course, the temptation was too great, and I'm glad to report that the taste lived up to the presentation. It's clear that there's a lot of care put into not just the cooking, but also how it's served, which made our dining experience even more special. The atmosphere of the place was just the cherry on top. It's warm and inviting, with just the right amount of buzz to keep it lively without being overwhelming. My boys felt right at home, and there were plenty of options to keep their picky appetites satisfied, making our dinner there a stress-free experience for everyone. In all, dining at Sushya was an absolute delight. It's not just the food that will bring us back, but the whole experience of feeling like you're dining with family. Whether you're a long-time lover of Japanese cuisine or introducing it to your kids for the first time, Sushya is the perfect spot. If you're looking for delicious food, a friendly environment, and a place that's as much a hit with the kids as it is with adults, then you've got to...
Read moreA 20% tip was automatically included for my party of 6. We would have preferred to be given an opportunity to choose the amount we wanted to give for the wonderful service we had experienced. It was generally a great eating out experience, and the sushi is better than what you would find in supermarkets - freshly made and served beautifully; but it is on a "skinny" side small portion with thin slices of avocado and eel. We could also point out several items on the menu that needed more work to take the culinary experience to the next level. Starting with appetizers, a firm toufu was used for the agedashi toufu; using soft silken toufu would give it a better texture. The miso soup lacked taste; insufficient seaweed and toufu, but more importantly, the soup tastes like it had been severely diluted in hot water. Onto the mains - the nabeyaki udon was far too sweet and presented in a Korean ramen pot instead of a typical Japanese ceramic bowl. Our order of shrimp tempura udon came with only one shrimp, a slice of eggplant, a slice of zucchini, and one large onion ring. The taste of the sunshine sushi roll was great; I think the texture of the cucumbers in it could provide more crunch and a larger serving of eel and avocado could be included. The bento with teriyaki chicken was cooked with chicken breast instead of chicken thigh, resulting in a much tougher cut of meat. We had chosen to drive across town to try this japanese restaurant out because of its high reviews. But if one is looking for high quality japanese food, this is in the category of "okay" (at the very least the chef got the tempura batter right; the shrimp and vegetables were well fried) & slightly better than what I have tried in several locations in central US. However, the quality of the food for the price is sorely disappointing. Having said that, I was thankful for all the work this restaurant had put in to allow us to enjoy a glimpse of what japanese food tastes...
Read moreI made an order for delivery for the lunch of someone who I wanted to give a pleasant surprise. The restaurant prepared and delivered the order to the Uber Eats guy and up to that part you could think they did their part. The issue is that the food was never delivered, I dealt with Uber Eats but when calling to explain my issue I got three different versions by the employee and “higher up” or person who took the phone off her. They told me they delivered to a person called Iris, Uber driver tells me he left it in front of…. Never said where and the manager read me the specific message I left with all delivery instructions on who to call and to what number and deliver to them. My issue with the restaurant is that at every point they kept just saying it’s not my fault and I can’t do anything about it, we made the food. Al thought part of that is true, businesses should have a higher standard when something goes wrong and do their best to make it right not just said it’s not my fault nothing I can do about it. I told them they should watch who they do business with because at the end is their reputation who’s in place, the “person in charge” seemed to care less and basically told me to do what I wanted. First and last don’t know how good or bad your sushi is but the customer experience is really important and you really dropped the ball on this. Hope anyone in the restaurant with a sense of what customer service is about would care and try to train their personnel on how to change a bad situation into a good one for someone who was trying to surprise someone with an unexpected lunch. Well that didn’t...
