A Five Star Review WAS coming… until Michelle the rude manager came along!
The first manager was a gentleman, as I called 15 minutes before closing to inform him I was coming in for a drink and nachos at the bar. I asked if this was Okay (being a 20 year Veteran of the restaurant industry), and He didn’t see a problem with it. He welcomed me in, and got me the nachos ASAP. My bartender was awesome too, and served me a drink. I asked “is it Okay if I watch the last 3 minutes of the Memphis versus OKC playoff game? “Sure No Problem” he said..
As soon as it hit 11 pm closing time, we still had two minutes left in the game, and it was close..
Michelle the manager started hovering around me.. managing the closing of the restaurant. I didn’t mind, because she was busy checking servers tables and sections. Everyone was still cleaning. Bartender still working and closing the bar. He even sold me another drink just before closing.. and allowed me to stay for the game… At exactly 11pm, they turned the lights on BRIGHT.. which alarmed me. It felt really rushed..
Then, all of a sudden.. at the last seconds of the game, Michelle changed her tone. As soon as OKC closed it out, I was told to leave immediately.. and NOT a Friendly request at all! I still had half a drink in my hand, literally in my mouth… and Michelle waltzed right up to me with her FAKE SMILE and portentous Beverly Hills attitude, “Okay it’s almost midnight and it’s time for you to leave!” With her fake smile looking right into my eyes like she is protecting her restaurant from a homeless criminal.
I looked at my phone, and the time said 11:23… I was beyond closing hours.. But listen here Grasshopper. I’ve worked in the restaurant industry for 20 years.. and we ALWAYS let people finish their food and drinks before we turn the lights on.
Michelle shamed me for being there after hours, and she made me feel extremely uncomfortable and UNWELCOME.
Unfortunately I lost my appetite, and could not even finish my food or my drink. She smiled big at me, as if she was doing me a favor by telling me the hours for tomorrow. As I walked out, she was STILL checking servers out, STILL working, and STILL operating a restaurant that had “valuable” guests inside.
I was embarrassed and belittled to a point where I took the time to write this review outside this establishment. I highly recommend staying FAR AWAY FROM THIS RESTAURANT, and giving them ZERO MAS chances.
Absolutely Disgusting treatment of ANY human being.. But to a 20 year Veteran of the restaurant industry.. This is LOW CLASS.
As long as Michelle works for you, I will not ever be coming here again. Photo taken at 12:15 am.. as they were all still closing the restaurant and working. Me sitting at the bar by myself did absolutely Nothing to deter them...
Read moreMy wife and I were so excited to try Uno Mas for date night, but the staff and management of Uno Mas totally ignored me and my wife until we left their restaurant.
When we arrived, the restaurant was at least 75% empty on the bottom, but the host insisted on putting us on a wait list. We waited for 30 minutes while staring at a restaurant full of empty tables.
When it was our turn, we were sat on the patio. We watched as two different servers ignored us completely to check on the tables next to us. No one greeted us or offered us a water.
A third server came to check on us, said hello and asked if we had been helped. When we said that we hadn't, she offered to go find our waiter but never came back.
By this time, we've been sitting at our table for 20 minutes after waiting for 30 minutes to be sat. No drink order. Nothing.
We wait for another 10 minutes and a manager approaches. He asks us if we have been helped. We say that we haven't and he gets visibly frustrated, rolls his eyes at us, and says he'll be right back with our server. Another 10 minutes later, he still hasn't returned and we still haven't been helped.
After spending over an hour waiting to be served, we finally decided to leave. As we depart, we noticed that the restaurant is even more empty downstairs, servers are literally standing around looking at their phones, and the manager who offered to help us is laughing and talking to customers and employees, having clearly forgotten about us just like his servers did.
Very disappointed that they ruined the date night I had been planning with my wife, and they didn't even seem to care. When we were leaving, I said goodbye to the manager and he he said nothing back to us, didn't apologize, didn't offer to make it right, and just watched us go while continuing to laugh with some employees. Honestly, it felt like they were happy that they had just ran us off without serving us. That's how they made us feel when we left and I've never felt that way leaving a restaurant before. My wife was extremely upset.
I'm not sure if Uno Mas just didn't want to serve us and decided to ignore us until we left, or if they didn't like how we looked, or if they just didn't care enough to bother with us. Either way, somehow a staff of three waiters, one manager, and one host, couldn't manage to serve us or even take our order.
Respectfully, whoever the owner of this establishment is might want to take a look into how...
Read moreWe went on a Saturday evening around 5:30 or 6PM, so it was really busy. They have 2 levels of outdoor seating, upstairs and down, and both were pretty packed. We did not have reservations, and just wandered in. We were able to get our party of 6 seated without a wait, but I think we just got lucky!
We were in a booth just as you entered the restaurant, so while not ideal seating, with no reservation Saturday afternoon with Cowboys & 2 college games in town, lol, we weren’t about to complain. We appreciated them getting us in.
Service was great. Josselyne was great. She never missed a beat even though they were super busy. She came with 2 min of us sitting down, took & returned with drink orders, and returned with appetizer quickly as well- before the food came, lol, which is a win when it’s that full.
We kept it basic & got chips, salsa, and guacamole. It was good and the portion size was reasonable for the price. The salsa was quite spicy. Several of us like spicy, so it was all good, but it was a little too hot for the 5 yr old & one of my sons.
Food came out surprisingly quickly. It was well made, hot, and nicely plated. The crispy was crispy, the fresh was fresh, things were well seasoned and portions were good.
Note that the tacos only come with 2 tacos. It SAYS “Dos Tacos” on the menu, and that’s not just the name of the dish. It’s literal, lol. I had the Baja Tacos and one of us had the Ground beef puffy tacos, and another went with the Tejas Tacos. Shrimp was nicely charred, ground beef was good, the brisket was tender. It was enough for us, but if you’re really hungry or a big eater, you may want something more substantial.
We also had the steak fajitas & kid’s chicken tender meal. The steak was great as were the veggies, and the kid’s meal was impressive. The fries were incredible & the chicken tenders were crispy and good sized.
Loud and upbeat atmosphere, loud music, Spanish of course, multiple tv’s blaring ball games, lots of people and drinks. Very celebratory atmosphere. It was a good time for us, and we played corn hole on the way out. Will...
