i drive here from Richardson at LEAST once a week! this is by far my favorite coffee shop i’ve had the pleasure of experiencing in my lifetime of living in dfw. i love the warm and cozy interior that’s very inviting. where there is ample outdoor seating, i do wish there was more indoor seating as it does fill up pretty quickly. it’s rare to find a coffee shop that serves you in a proper mug, and food on a real plate!!! my go to order is strawberry jam toast and 2 eggs (that are always cooked to perfection and seasoned with the perfect amount of flaky salt) and a cappuccino. the coffee is always deliciously perfect, and the service is fantastic. i usually stock up on homemade jam, a sourdough loaf, and farm fresh eggs when i stop by. if you want a drink to-go, they serve in a glass mason jar for $2 and when you bring it back you get your deposit back. i enjoy how fresh and homemade the food is and sustainable this coffee shop is. cannot recommend this place enough!! i will say, i wished they were open on Sundays! as someone who has to work Saturdays, Sundays are usually my only day off to do things with friends and family. i still have managed over time to bring almost everyone i know here though lol. i have even considered moving to the bishop arts area because i love this place so much. anyway, i’ll stop ranting. go enjoy a Davis St. cappuccino, you won’t regret it. (no there isn’t any wifi, this is a great spot to unplug, read a book, catch up with friends, and enjoy the moment. i appreciate...
Read moreDon’t come here if you care about your safety or the pandemic. I had applied here only to be turned down because of masks…I went in with my mask on and noticed I was the only one wearing it. I didn’t think much to it because you usually see that around. When I got to the questions part of the interview with the manager, everything was going fine until she started asking me about masks. I’ve worked as a server and we had a choice on whether or not we wanted to wear mask, only if we were vaccinated. As an employer, they should prioritize the safety of employees AND guests, but apparently not here. They simply don’t care. Every question she asked felt like she was in a way criticizing me for wearing it. She asked me how do I feel about working with coworkers who aren’t vaccinated and not wearing masks. I told her that I would feel uncomfortable because I wouldn’t want to get me, my family, nor any customer sick. She smiled at me and said “well mostly everyone here isn’t vaccinated and don’t wear masks so I don’t think this is the job for you” and stuck out her hand to end the interview. I was absolutely shocked..I have never in my life met such an ignorant establishment and will never recommend people to come here even if the coffee was good or not. If you want someone else’s experience…well there’s a bunch of reviews here where they share the same thing. You might as well just go down the road to bishop arts and get coffee there where they DO care about your well being and still give you...
Read moreFor the past four years this has been my go-to coffee shop and if I were writing this in February of 2020 or before, I would likely be rating it four or five stars. However, I have been deeply disappointed with Davis Street's response to the pandemic and public health guidelines. In the past, I have come in and listened to barista's carefully and calmly de-escalate situations with customers angry about a lack of dairy alternatives or WiFi; so, it seems absurd that management would encourage their baristas to speak out in regards to these things, but not a public health emergency. I have been in several times to grab coffee to-go and every time there are customers who wander in without a mask who go unaddressed which not only puts other customers at risk but also the staff. This is reinforced by the fact that I have consistently seen management and ownership wander through the cafe without a mask which sets an awful example for other customers and unnecessarily exposes their service team. I understand that this is a difficult time for small businesses, but for a shop that focuses so much on the importance of community and drawing people together, it is doing an abysmal job at creating a space where the community can feel safe. I am disappointed that this will no longer be a space that I can comfortably get coffee, but I am glad that there are other coffee shops within walking distance that provide and enforce guidelines to do their part in...
