Ok, that was unexpectedly good!! We were looking for a place for dinner in Oak Cliff, just couldn't face the traffic to get to any of the places we frequent outside the neighborhood. I had seen the article in the neighborhood Advocate mag, sounded like an interesting place, so we tried it, and were not disappointed! We got the "cup and char," pepperoni pizza with mascarpone, or was it ricotta?, dollops, and it was a really great upgrade on plan pepperoni. But even better was the Bahn Mi pizza! Which, when I read the article, I thought I'll never try that, that's just not right for pizza. I've never actually tried a banh mi sandwich. I do love Vietnamese food, don't eat it that often, but I like it. This banh mi topping is REALLY delicious, and the crust, which I realize I haven't yet mentioned, but the crust is super great and if this is what a banh mi is like then I've been missing out!! Service was friendly, there are multiple other pizza options I will have the opportunity to try though I may not get to those options as fast because I'm going to want banh...
Read moreThe pizzas here remind me of the fresh baked pizzas they serve on Friday nights at Eatzis. Fresh ingredients, a similar crust to Eatzi’s, and the pizzas are offered in predetermined flavors as they are at Etzis yet, unlike Eatzi’s, you can add or omit ingredients. The pizza are big enough to split and a large meal for one with 6 foldable slices. But the thing that I was most impressed with was the tastiness of the cauliflower crust. My husband had the standard crust and I think they are fairly well matched In deliciousness. If the gluten were not an issue, I believe I would still go with the cauliflower crust. I got the basil Pesto Cream pizza and my husband got the simple pepperoni. The pepperoni pizza was solid and the sausage on the basil pesto pizza just the right amount of spice to add interest and flavor. The flavors of that pizza were well matched and the zucchini, which I don’t usually care much for, was a nice addition and didn’t taste as expected. If you haven’t been, you’ve got to go. An important addition to the Oak Cliff...
Read moreMy family and I stopped here on the way to an outing at the Dallas Zoo. My wife’s a vegetarian and she got the Bahn Mi pizza without meat and it was unbelievable. I got the Cup & Char which is basically a pepperoni pizza with flair and it was great too. We got the kids a cheese pizza which was perfect. The interior is simple, clean, and has a very cool vibe that speaks low key comfort & class. The back door opens to a long deck that spans the entire shopping center which provided a cool area for our three kids to hang out and explore while we were finishing up. I will definitely be back and look forward to trying some of the other pizzas. The owner, Alex, came to our table and introduced himself and was friendly, funny and nice, and throughout our meal we could see him diligently making pizzas with his crew in the kitchen (kind of an open kitchen concept). A real gem in the Bishop Arts / Davis...
