It was odd driving at 10pm in the evening when you're weary from travel just to sate your long standing Korean craving taste-buds. The shadows and odd location didn't put much confidence into this well-recommended establishment. Entering the parking lot yielded an interesting experience with tight spaces, odd turns, and even fellows seeming to browse items from backs of trunks. But an odd thing happens when you enter the restaurant. I've never been to Korean myself, but if I were to imagine the ordeal, I imagine it being like the experience of me walking through those doors. It made me feel like I was transported over seas in an instant. This little slice of the motherland. The interior was very tastefully designed. Clean. Simple. Well lit. Honestly beautiful. It was late but still had a few patrons dining in. We took our seat and were greeted with friendly staff. They were very unassuming and polite. Spoke in English to take our order and strike up light small talk. The utensils are in a box for you to choose your own weapon, and napkins are close by near their work station open for you to grab. The iced water was served in containers with the option of iced Korean tea [name escapes me atm, forgive me...] as a nice palette cleanser. The water was nice and crisp as the Fiance and I drank from our small, individual metal cups. Even the water tasted superb. I am not making this up. I even commented it explicitly to my partner. She giggled at the ridiculousness and truth of the statement. We ordered the Short Rib and Spicy Short Rib stews [My Korean is not working today... Sorry. Just took an exam, heh], and they were literally some of the best things I've ever tasted in My Entire Life. I've left scathing reviews in the past on Facebook, Google, and the like for various eating establishments. And a few commendations on establishments that surprise me. This instance truly does take the top spot in my mind for being amazing. The food. Amazing. Staff. Superb. Physical location. Inside, nice. Outside, still scares me.
Getting back on track, the food is phenomenal. My Fiance and I came here expectant but hesitant. Like I was describing the environment the restaurant is located at: sketchy. But as the cliche goes, the best ones always are located here, huh? I pray that this place never changes and that I could maybe one day return in my youth, and in the near future with the next generation. Truly amazing. You have to come here.
Here's your review, kind lady of the establishment. Thank you for your truly warm hospitality and truly amazing food. I will be returning, hopefully soon!
My one criticism, and this is with any restaurant, but especially a Korean one! - We need a button/ buzzer for service. By no means was service slow or bad during my time, but even those precious seconds could be made just that...
Read moreFirst of all, thank you so much to Emma, for being the most amazing Server at a Korean restaurant I had ever experienced in 40 years (for this past Sunday, 5/5/2024).
You are a gentle Soul, who is very kind, authentic, helpful, thoughtful, intelligent, wise, and unforgettable. I wish 🙏🌌🌠 you many uplifting blessings 💖.
My husband and I have enjoyed our meals here whenever we visited Dallas, and they have been consistently serving THE BEST bone broth soups of various kinds, especially our favorite oxtail soup (see 5 brief videos and 10 photos; UPDATE: wasn’t able to share videos).
Plus, it’s RARE for Korean restaurants to serve very delicious kimchi (most serve decent or edible).
But for restaurants whose main dish are bone broth soups, great kimchi is a MUST; otherwise, their soups probably aren’t that good, let alone great.
I was here for a 3-day, Dream Builder Live Event, which was very encouraging, uplifting, empowering and inspiring; so savoring this DELICIOUS meal was a BIG bonus for the end of this trip.
This restaurant has also been consistently clean and organized, to include the restrooms, which is a good sign.
Plus, the rest of the staff have been very prompt with their service.
I’ll more than likely return this summer with my now partner, for his annual event, as well as my open-mic comedy hobby.
Look forward to meeting Emma again. Until then, take great care wonderful lady...
Read moreIt's the day my wife and I found out our first baby is a boy. We were planning to go to Koryo since it's our memorial place for years. But after reading recent reviews, we didn't feel like our experience today would be surely positive and we definitely didn't want to ruin this special day. So we wanted to try something new but still Korean. Doma is highly and mostly rated among others in this area. Photos and reviews are very good. So it's an easy decision for us to choose here.
When we first walked in, we were welcomed by a Korean lady. The place was nice and clean. My wife ordered #11 and I ordered #5. Food was served fast. When serving the food, the lady explained each bonchon (side dish) and how to use the dipping sauce/seasoning for my food. I was really hungry and eating fast. So a second bowl of rice was offered for free. We enjoyed not just our food but also the service here. We love LA Hanbat and usually went there for beef soup. However, Doma is definitely a tasty destination in this neighborhood as well. We would love to come back for some...
