The female barista not the male bartender yesterday March 26, 2024 was probably one of the most horrific person I have ever met in the service industry. Having been a bartender for roughly 6 years, I understand the overwhelmingness and the pressure of it all. But I walk into La Reunion with 4 people already seated, no music and 20 minutes in I come to find out no wifi. Understandable things happen, what I didn't understand was why Sarah after much research on the La Reunion Instagram page I identified her I believe, had taken 45 mins after taking my order for my food to arrive because the "wifi was down", so my thought process is turn around and let the cook know through the order window? Nope she passively set the flatbread plate down on the table nearly an hour later, dropped my pens as I was studying and walked away. It was so disrespectful the girls studying next to me picked my pens and apologized. But the cherry truly on top was while she was upset working and ultimately was NOT working, she ignored your guest to sit and talk with her friends two tables down. It got busier and she just got lazier. I don't think she's what your bar/cafe represents and I hope that was a bad day for her, and she's not just an actually terrible person. Because the disrespect was emitting off her, from her tone to delivery to body language, she hated being there and made everyone else around her uncomfortable. The crazy thing is her and the tall blonde white guy were asking the cook for food in Spanish, both employees white, mind you, and they ate before me:) The restaurant being silent amplified everything. Also random but not entirely tied I don't know how I feel about little kids in restaurants asking for money, because often times its a parent or authority figure manipulating a situation, but the whole vibe was genuinely off, Michael Mettendorf I hope this is not what...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI mean I walked in and my playlist was literally emanating from the speakers. If you like Charlotte Day Wilson, Chiiild, Emotional Oranges or Masego with great food, coffee and crazy awesome cocktails (the espresso martini is unreal) served with an authentic smile this is it. I literally downloaded Shazam for the first time ever. Oh and itās affordable bc they are open way too often so theyāre happy hour is longer than most. No reason to go anywhere else in Bishop Arts. I was in diapers crawling around Olineās Salon (a safe space for queer, liberal and people of color since the early 80ās in Bishop Arts). I have watched the bad and the good of Bishop Arts and I fully embrace this place. La Reunion may be a part of the gentrification everyone scowls at but Iām not so quick to scowl. Itās packed on a Tuesday and Iām the one of the only whites face here and Iām a very disabled, pro- Palestinian Ashkanazi Jew (culturally) and a lesbian. Most people are working on their computers drinking coffee. Itās not a party environment. More a work or thank God Iām off of work. Great date spot. Thatās how I learned about it. I finally moved on up to a house in Kessler Park so Iām close by looking for happy hours in Bishops Arts and spent a fortune being disappointed. Not one drink was under $15 until I came here and everything before was garbage. This is the spot yāall from 8am-2am. Itās also half a block from free parking which most people donāt know about in Bishop Arts. If you want to really eat after there is good seafood TexMex go to La Calle Doce and Zen has an excellent happy hour M-F 5-6pm for hand rolls only with excellent service and they are amazing if you have dietary restrictions or are also vegetarian or vegan. No cheap drinks though. $5 hand rolls that are massive for any diet. Two are dinner. The only other amazing thing close by is Emporium Pies and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI recently discovered a hidden gem of a bar that completely captivated me with its enchanting atmosphere and incredible live singer. The vocalist's voice was pure magic, with each note resonating deeply and soothing the soul. Their mesmerizing performance created an ambiance that transcended the ordinary, effortlessly setting the tone for the entire bar/restaurant.
But it wasn't just the captivating performance that impressed me; the deliciousness of the alcohol beverages added another layer of delight to the experience. Every sip was a delightful journey of flavors, carefully crafted by skilled mixologists who clearly knew their craft. From expertly balanced cocktails to an impressive selection of spirits, the drink menu was a treasure trove of libations that tantalized the taste buds and elevated the entire experience.
The combination of the soul-stirring live music and the delectable beverages created an atmosphere that felt like an escape from the worries of everyday life. It was an oasis where one could immerse themselves in the melodic sounds and savor the incredible flavors, leaving all problems at the door. If you're looking for a place to unwind, let go, and be transported by the power of music while indulging in extraordinary beverages, this bar is a must-visit. The live singer will touch your heart, the drinks will please your palate, and you'll leave with a renewed spirit and a desire to return to this haven of...
