They have this new system where they make you order on a big screen inside, rather than with a human. I'm not that familiar with their menu and the screen can be a bit confusing. All I wanted was a double cheeseburger and an iced coffee with cream and sugar, but instead of a very efficient human taking my small order in about 15 seconds, I was forced to go to this machine... even though there was no one in line for the human to help. As I muddled through taking my own order, the very nice employee who forced me to go to the machine in the first place interrupted me every 15 seconds to ask how my day was going and if I needed any help (not very efficient if you ask me). After about 4 minutes I was finally able to pay for my meal and was told to sit down. When I got my food the same young man brought my burger, but not my iced coffee. When he eventually brought the iced coffee it had cream, but no sugar because I didn't give the machine the right instructions. Apparently, for the machine zero sugar is a regular amount of sugar, and "extra" sugar is more than zero sugar. I searched for sugar and couldn't find any, so I asked an employee (a different employee) who was cleaning and she kind of scolded me and told me to ask at the counter. I waited at the counter for about a minute, and they referred me back to my "server" person who eventually brought 4 packets of sugar that were soiled with coffee, and asked me several more times how my day was going. As I ate my double cheeseburger the same employee asked me again, how my day was going... several more times. Now, I realize that McDonald's is trying to make things more efficient with this project, but I don't think it works as intended. I went to McDonald's during my very limited free time because I wanted a quick and efficient meal, and instead had one of the worst restaurant experiences ever. I mean, how can McDonald's screw up McDonald's? I should have been helped by a human taking my super simple order and payment in 15 seconds, waited a minute or two for my order, go sit down, eat, then leave and continue with my extremely busy day. Read moreThey got my order wrong, had to go back through the drive again, chick at the window didn't understand what I was trying to tell her - even at the window (though her English was as fluent as mine) - then rudely told me to pull forward where I was finally able to switch out my order after showing 2 receipts and explaining to 3 different people by this point. All for 2 breakfast burritos 🌯 😋. They were also out of 3 separate items on my initial mobile order, having to substitute or just remove altogether, and were unable to make my Cafe beverage due to cleaning the espresso machine at 10:30am... I understand that's when the menu flips over, but c'mon man! I'd think that management could likely decide on a more sufficient time of the day for such a task - but whatever. I guess they don't like to maximize their profits to maximize their bonus checks? Ain't no thang... just found it disappointing and to be bad time management as well as overall customer service by the end of my two whirls around the place.
