I was driving around as I saw this small bakery & cafe. I noticed it was relatively new. I went there a little bit after lunch around 1 PM. The cafe was pretty packed when I arrived there. I was greeted as soon as I entered and asked if I needed any help. I noticed that there was a gelato station in addition to the bakery and general cafe items. The cakes here reminded me of what I usually see at Asian bakeries. I ended up grabbing a Macchiato and Coffee Cake. I was handed a number and grabbed at an empty seat a table.
The coffee + cake came out about 5 minutes after I ordered. Not sure I’ve ever had this kind of coffee before, but it was quite strong. The coffee cake had 3 layers of cake and then a tiny layer of coffee/vanilla buttercream between each one. Each of the cake layers were like a spongy texture. The bottom layer of the cake seemed like it was either soaked in coffee or espresso. The top two layers didn’t seem like they had been soaked, but from what I could taste, they definitely had drops of coffee added. On the top of the cake, they had a thicker layer of coffee buttercream with chocolate. The cake wasn’t overtly sweet and definitely had the coffee taste throughout the cake.
I also noticed people near me eating injera and curry so that would be worth trying if I revisited. I would like to go back at a later time and try the gelato! The prices were reasonable and the quality of the food...
Read moreThe two stars are for location(closer for the habesha community) and ambiance. We did now know we had to order, pay and take a seat. We waited for the waitress and she did nt even bother to let us know we had to order first cleaning the table next to us. We got up and did order and paid, even tipped before service(which I regret). Food was not tasty at all. The kuanta firfir was tasteless, enkulal firfir had chunky uncooked onions and tomatoes. I usually order hot milk and esspresso on the side so I can make my own light macciato but I was served with a coffee flavored water. Women bathroom stinked we had to rush washing our hand. I was happy to hear we got another bakery (other than City Cafe) for our cake option but I dont want to go back there anymore. If you are serving different than what the habesha community is use to, please let us know when we walk in. Add more servers so ppl can get noticed quick. As a new business, it was bad...
Read moreI decided the randomly try this community cafe and had a wonderful experience! I really liked the design, atmosphere, music, and coffee! This is very much the kind of cafe I would imagine every neighborhood should have! Even though many customers and staff were of the same/similar ethnicity, I felt very comfortable and the service was so friendly and welcoming! The coffee was also fantastic and the music was perfect for a chill cafe! The cafe and more impressively, the bathroom, was super clean and nice! I would love to work from my laptop here on some days, play board games with friends on a Saturday morning, and grab a coffee any day of the week! Plus, they’re...
