I’m not even waiting until I get home to share that I just had the most delicious ribeye here at Nelson’s. My husband and I were craving something/somewhere different. I found Nelson’s and saw the good reviews, so we headed out even though they were going to be closing soon after we would arrive. (We did call ahead.) We were a little worried coming in. It was very empty. Just 2 other customers and one was paying out. The decor was … non existent? I mean, it’s very clean, but the shades of gray and white are cold and uninviting. We decided to stay because we were hungry, the reviews were good, and it wasn’t ridiculously priced. We started with drinks. My husband had wine-Decoy merlot, $15 a glass. A little more than I’d expect for Decoy, but not bad. I had an Italicus Spritz ($9). I’d never had one and never seen it on a menu anywhere, so I was curious. It was so refreshing! I immediately looked up Italicus at Total Wine so I could buy some for summer spritzers. My husband got a shooter of lobster bisque. He’s not a big soup guy, but he really liked the bisque. He said a shooter was just the right amount for him, so it’s great that they offer that. We shared the spring mix salad. The dressing was a bit spicy, which we really liked. It was also unique in that it had whole olives, cotija cheese and capers along with all the usual ingredients in a dinner salad. It was really good. I’m a big eater, so I ordered the 12 ounce ribeye. It came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The potatoes were just ok, but the steak was so flavorful! It was a thin-ish cut and was a bit on the medium side (I ordered it medium rare), but I ate every last bite. It was just what I wanted. My husband got the bison meatloaf. It also came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. He said the meatloaf was very good. He said the gravy was the best he’d ever had in restaurant. He finished my mashed potatoes with the last of his meatloaf. Being a Saturday night we were very surprised there weren’t more people there, but I suspect they do great business on weekdays and for happy hour as well as brunch. We’ll definitely be back for the food. Maybe I’ll donate a large piece of art with some bright red, yellow, and orange color to perk up the dining room. Or maybe not, but they really could use a little color and something to soften the atmosphere. The food though is everything we were looking for.

We walked into Nelson’s around 4PM on a weekday. Morgan and Brian took care of us on this day, and both of them were cheerful and friendly, as well as knowledgeable with the menu. Food - We ordered the appetizer sampler, along with a wedge salad for starters, and we shared a burger for lunch. The sampler was delicious, but there was nothing particularly noteworthy about it. The deviled egg was really good, but the crab cakes were my favorite from the sampler. Drinks - I ordered a half and half martini - delicious and crisp, and had a very well rounded old fashioned. My fiancé ordered a grapefruit Paloma and she loved it. Aesthetics - With the location of Nelson’s, it’s easy to drive by since it’s sort of tucked away off Preston, but this restaurant is worth a visit. It’s not in our neck of the woods, but it was very good, and would make the list of restaurants I’d recommend if someone was in the area looking for semi-formal steakhouse. The decor was bright and the ambiance was very positive.

Went again and still fabulous! I crave the fried okra, so good! I the ranch dressing is crazy delicious. We had the burgers this time, fries were tasty! You should enjoy, friendly environment, excellent food. This is an amazing establishment! Each time I come I try something new and I am never disappointed! I come for the fried okra, everything else is a complement! But seriously, I love the okra, super fresh and it is crispy and salted perfect. Red trout was ordered and it was amazing and I do not even think I like fish! Lol, I also had the catfish and it was amazing! The hamburgers are always ordered and my kids look forward to them! And the drinks are crafted! The staff is friendly and the selections of wine are awesome!

I looooved this place! The good was wonderful. Our waiter was absolutely top notch. Could not have asked for better service. He was polite and friendly and he went way out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. The food was delicious. I got the bison meatloaf with mashed potatoes and I subsistuted the asparagus and got the cream corn. I am not normally a cream corn fan, but let me tell you I was so impressed with theirs. I could have gotten just the creamed corn and been happy. Everything comes in nice portions and it is not overly expensive and still great quality food. We will definitely go back again. We also got the deviled eggs for an appetizer. Topped with bacon and relish.....yum!!!

I loved how Bryan tweaked my drink to my taste for the night. He is a expert and in bar technique. Then they tweaked my steak and crab cake. The seer ice and food was awesome. Every part of my meal was flavorful and cooked to perfection.

Never had had ribs drenched in bbw sauce. The deviled eggs had no flavor and too much relish. My husband had the meatloaf and it was just ok.
