Disappointing First Experience
I’m not someone who likes to assume discrimination or "pull the race card," but unfortunately, my experience here left me feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome.
I walked in with positive energy, a friendly attitude, and genuine excitement about trying sushi for the first time. Instead of being met with warmth or assistance, I was greeted with total awkwardness and what felt like dismissiveness.
I told the young man who took my order that it was my first time trying sushi, hoping he would offer guidance or recommendations. He didn’t. He didn’t smile, wasn’t friendly, and it felt like he was rushing me out. Maybe he was having a stressful day but when I'm having one at my job, I still try to keep the same cheerfulness throughout my entire 10-hour shift. There was no menu with pictures and without any helpful direction, I ended up picking something blindly. I genuinely wanted to try something simple, like a California roll, to ease into the experience, but unfortunately, their sushi is only fish-based and raw.
The atmosphere and music were lovely, which made the lack of hospitality even more disappointing. This may trigger some people with fragility, but I couldn’t help but feel that if I looked different, maybe I would’ve received better service. As someone who is always cheerful, respectful, polite, and positive in every environment, it was hurtful feeling judged and dismissed based on my appearance.
In the end, I threw the sushi away because as silly as it sounds, my experience made me lose my appetite. So congrats on the donation. I won’t be returning but I'm not giving up on trying sushi from a more friendlier environment. Please do better humanity. Spread love...
Read moreMy wife and I went to the Sushi House to eat dinner on 10/21/2012. Upon arriving, we were immediately seated by our server, an older lady. We ordered 6 rolls and an appetizer. The place filled-up with other people after we arrived and our server brought our drinks, the appetizer and only four of our six rolls. We ate everything and our server never once checked on us. After eating we sat there for about 20 minutes waiting on the server to bring our check. I finally had to ask and she said it would be a minute. Ten minutes later she finally brought us our check and I told her I had a Groupon. She huffed and puffed and stormed off. After looking at the check we realized she charged us for the two rolls we ordered but she never brought. I pointed this out to her and she huffed and puffed again, slammed some things around, and yelled at the guys behind the sushi bar. She never once apologized. After recalculating our bill and watching her storm around, she told us not to forget to leave her a tip. We paid and left.
This was the most rude server I have ever experienced and we will never go eat at this restaurant again. The food is average for a sushi bar.
If you do go eat at this restaurant and you see this older lady, avoid her if you can or find another...
Read moreMy husband and I decided to go out for some sushi. We weren’t looking for anything spectacular, but boy did we get it.
First, I don’t usually order Miso soup at Japanese restaurants because I can just make it at home. BUT, the miso soup here is from a different dimension. It’s flavor is so rich and delicious. Also I ordered the Salmon Sashimi as well. Which was phenominal. I’ve had salmon sashimi at other sushi places and it doesn’t compare to how soft and melt in your mouth the salmon Is at Sushi house.
To top it all off, the atmosphere in here is amazing. The lighting is perfect, it’s not too big, you can sit at the bar and watch your sushi be made. Lastly, they play really nice jazz music too! It really adds to the mood! Much better than the same pop sound track every retail and restaurant seems to play these days. Will definitely be returning with friends.
The service was also amazing! The girl serving us tonight was on top of it! She was really busy but still really attentive...
