I have loved La La Land since they first opened years ago, one of my favorite things about it was feeling so welcomed and getting quality coffee and teas! Unfortunately it seems this location has gone downhill. The wait times for drinks have gotten out of hand but even worse, the attitudes of the baristas have made me want to stop coming here all together. I consistently order 10-15 minutes ahead due to anticipated wait times from ordering as a walk in, but find I am still waiting another 10-15 minutes when I get there. Sometimes the wait is still that long even when there are very few customers in the cafe. I was honestly okay with overlooking the seemingly absurd wait times until when I went in this past week. Per usual, I ordered my drink about 10 minutes before I would arrive to alleviate wait time at actual cafe. When I arrived there was barely anyone there and I still had to wait another almost 10 minutes for my drink. This wouldn’t have been a huge issue if the drink had been being made, however it was ready. The baristas seemed more occupied with mocking a customer from earlier than putting it on the to go counter. By the time I received it, it was barely room temperature (it was a hot drink). Once again, it wasn’t necessarily the lack of caring for their job that bothered me, but rather the mocking and complaining about a customer. I understand service jobs are difficult, and everyone needs to vent, however there is a time and place. In the nicest way I can put it, the baristas at this location seemingly hate their jobs and always seem annoyed with actually serving the customers and appear to have zero care on whether the customer is waiting a ridiculous amount of time or not. I’m not sure if this location is specifically understaffed, under new management or simply lacks customer service skills, but whatever it is I hope it gets cleared up, as it used to be a great and...
Read moreLaLa Land Cafe brings a whimsical charm to the local coffee scene, though it's not without a few minor hiccups. The moment you walk in, you're greeted by an Instagram-worthy interior with vintage Hollywood-inspired decor and twinkling fairy lights that create a dreamy atmosphere perfect for both work and casual meetups.
Their coffee program deserves praise - the house blend is rich and well-balanced, and their baristas clearly know their craft. The lavender latte, their signature drink, hits all the right notes without being overly sweet. Their pastry selection is a delightful surprise, with the homemade croissants being a standout. The breakfast sandwich, made with local eggs and artisanal cheese, has become my weekend go-to.
Where LaLa Land slightly misses the mark is in consistency. While service is generally friendly, it can be hit-or-miss during busy hours. I've occasionally encountered longer-than-expected wait times, and the quality of latte art can vary depending on who's behind the counter. The limited seating can also be challenging during peak hours, though the turnover is fairly quick.
Pricing is on the higher side for a neighborhood cafe, but the quality of ingredients and the atmospheric experience help justify the cost.
Four stars for creating a charming escape with quality beverages and food, even if there's still some room for improvement in service consistency. It's worth visiting for the ambiance alone, but stay for the coffee...
Read moreI went to LA LA Land for the 1st time yesterday after a coworker told me all about it. When I read online about the mission of kindness & the program to empower youth aging out of the Foster care system, I was sold.
The cafe is pricey so its not a place I would go regularly. But the monster sized chocolate chip cookie and the avocado toast were wonderful! I was so jazzed about the experience I talked my parents into going to visit today. Unfortunately, they had a vastly different experience..
They ordered 2 cortado coffees, an avocado toast and an almond croissant. Only 1 coffee was made despite my parents confirming with the cashier that 2 coffees were to be ordered. Mistakes happen...No Biggie. However, there was zero Kindness to be seen when my dad asked about the 2nd cup of coffee. The barista was openly rude about it and never made eye contact. Please tell me the Mission of Kindness isn't just to sell Tshirts.
Then the cortados were badly made. They should be double shots of espresso with a splash of milk. These were short lattes: lots of milk, little coffee. Now I see how this may sound dramatic, but at over $5 a coffee each should have...
