I AM LIVID..been wanting to try this place for months but it's ALWAYS closed..finally came by today..there was only one table occupied...they were a nice family..said the food was good..now, I LOVE Louisiana cuisine, but gumbo is ALWAYS hit and miss..I am not going to lie, I was a little hesitant bc there is only one man there and he is not what I am used to seeing in Cajun cooking..he is an Asian man and at first he was nice and witty...THEN HE GOTplain rude..at first I asked to taste the gumbo..he sd no bc everything is made to order..NO FREAKING AUTHENTIC GUMBO IS MADE TO ORDER..next he sd if I have questions I can leave bc he only uses the best ingredients..he has customers coming from other cities and he didn't even serve the local people here..a lot of the items are handwritten I'm CHICKEN scratch.so of course I had questions!! When I actually was ready to order ( was gonna try beignets, cup of seafood gumbo, and fried chicken), he was talking so much UNPROFESSIONAL trash that I walked out..he should not be at the front representing this business..he was telling the ONE TABLE that was there that he has a real estate business and he only opens sometimes bc they are losing money bc food costs..NO YOU ARENT.MAKING MONEY BC YOU ARE FLAT OUT THE RUDEST OWNER OF A BUSINESS ESTABLISHMENT IVE EVER MET! the lady that unfortunately ordered bf me sd she wasn't coming back when she interjected in his rant and sd that 'everyone has different tastes and you have to ask questions'..he was.lime well if u DNT wanna spend ur money of question anything u can leave and u can read the reviews and know I'm good..it's commom sense..HE IS DEFINITELY NOT A REPRESENTATION OF LOUISIANA CULTURE, THE PLACE DSNT LOOK,CLEAN BEHIND THE COUNTER, AND I CAN SEE WHY ITS SO EMPTY INSIDE.. OW .MAD BC IM STILL HUNGRY..LOL..LONGEST REVIEW IVE EVER MADE, SO I KNOW HE STRUCK A NERVE..WORST...

Easy to find from the streets, I enjoyed the beignets for only 3.99 which made me feel like I was home again. The po-boys are about 8 inches long with a decent price. The cafe au lait is very good. The gumbo had a good rule base with real seafood, okra and sausage. They even have a tofu po boy. There is Louisiana hot sauce and Tony's creole seasoning available to help spice up your entree. I gave a five star maily for the TRUE CUSTOMER SERVICE I recieved from the staff and owner, David C. Customer service goes a long way and many restaurants are starting to forget that. David C came to converse with me, my friend and my girls and even gave us a small history of New Orleans food and restaurants. Though I know alot about New Orleans cuisine as I am related to the late Dookie and leah Chase (God bless her), I still enjoyed how well David was with details on taking order and delivering quality food and customer service. He even gave us tips and history on China and their background. We got food, customer service and history. I will definitely go there again. Enjoyable for eating with family, friends, dates, or solo. Good for small groups only but they offer catering as well for large groups and...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place but I feel like I really wasted money today. This place was a disappointment to say the least. It’s been on my list for quite some time because it has such high ratings but I have no idea what these people have been eating. Although the man was nice, I know cooked fish that has been dipped again and that’s exactly what I got. I went with a friend and we had one check. I spent a little over $50 for both meals. She got the catfish meal and I got the catfish and shrimp combo meal with an order of hush puppies and okra for both of us to share. The side orders of hush puppies and okra were the only fresh items that were cooked. The fries were old and the shrimp had no flavor. The catfish was cooked so hard that it was basically burnt and I had to ask him if we could have a new order of fish and my new order came with an undercooked piece of chicken. I also ordered some beignets and those tasted like paper. I didn’t create a fuss about it because I had already asked for a new order of fish but for this to have been my first time going there and my experience was very bad. The food was bad. I just wanted my money back to be honest, but I know for sure that I won’t be back. I hope that if you decide to go here then it’s better than what I experienced today. 0/10 do...
