We visited Sabores Latin House this afternoon after my son's graduation, hoping to celebrate a milestone with good food and good company. What we walked into instead was absolute chaos. To start with the positive—yes, the mandoca was good. But sadly, that was the only bright spot in an otherwise frustrating and disheartening experience. The restaurant was severely understaffed, with only two people juggling both tables and the bar. Not to mention the owner had compiled a total of 50 of her family members into the small restaurant. Due to the fact that the owner had packed us AND HER FAMILY/FRIENDS, we were overlooked. Drinks took 10–15 minutes to arrive—when they didn’t get lost in the shuffle altogether. Our server took half of our party’s order, then disappeared for nearly 15 minutes before returning to take the rest. Because of this, our meals arrived at scattered times. Some of us were nearly finished before others even got their plates. The portions were shockingly small, and the food itself was nothing to write home about. Juices tasted like watered-down sugar water, with chunky ice that clearly hadn’t been blended properly. To top it off, there was no serving etiquette and—disturbingly—they didn’t even ID anyone when serving alcohol. This was supposed to be a celebration. Instead, we left frustrated, hungry, and embarrassed that we chose this place to mark such a meaningful day. Sabores had the chance to make a memory with us—and they did, just not the kind they should...
Read moreI have to tell you an unfortunate experience with this establishment. At 5:30 p.m., while trying to set up decorations for a 7 p.m. event, the staff, who were unprofessional, refused to allow us to rearrange tables, citing that they were too busy, even though the restaurant was nearly empty with only four patrons. The decorations couldn't be set up the day before due to reasons related to the decorating company, and this was previously discussed and approved by an employee who was very polite—the only decent one there. However, the supposed owner, who demonstrated a complete lack of education and respect, caused the problem. She dismissed the previous agreement, saying that the polite employee was "just an employee" and that she was the owner. This indicated that she doesn’t even appreciate the quality of the staff she has. Their lack of education and customer service was evident, leading us to cancel our reservation for 50 people in a venue that can accommodate 80. Fortunately, we received a refund, but the lack of cooperation and blatant disrespect from the staff (from Villa del Rosario -Venezuela) especially the so-called owner, made the entire situation...
Read moreSabores Latin House completely blew me away! I was skeptical when I first walked in, but the vibe was warm, welcoming, and filled with energy.
Everything was beautifully presented (see photos!) and packed with flavor. The Chicken Tinga Empanadas were the standout dish!
The grilled octopus was tender and the broccolini added a nice bite. The short rib dish was equally impressive -- juicy, flavorful, and paired with fried yuca that had just the right crunch. Honestly another must have when coming!
Cocktails? Spot on. One of the best frozen margs in Dallas with an awesome black smokey salt.
And don't skip dessert! The churros were a perfect ending -- warm, crispy, and dusted with just the right amount of sugar and cinnamon, served with a dipping sauce that could be bottled and sold.
To top it all off, I had the chance to meet Carlos, the owner -- what a genuinely kind, hard-working guy. You can tell he puts his heart into this place, and it shows in every bite and detail.
Highly recommend Sabores Latin House to anyone looking for a top-tier Latin-inspired meal in Dallas. It is a fantastic change from the regular run of the mill Texmex we constantly find...
