I had a bad experience here. I had confirmed a reservation for a semi large group on a Sunday per āsupposedlyā the person in charge named (Anna) is how she identified herself. She asked for my information, she confirmed once again the date/time & we ended our conversation. Since I had a locked in reservation, I went ahead & sent out my invitations... I was in the area a few days later & decided to go in to scope out the restaurant & check on the handicap availability & was told by the manger that theyāve never taken reservations on Sundays but that I was more than welcomed to come anyway but Sundays are their busy days & would NOT be able to accommodate! I explained to him that per Anna I had a reservation for said date. He refused to to listen, got a little loud & rude and I could not get in a word edgewise, never once did he acknowledge that Anna would have confirmed anything with me nor did he apologize for Annaās mistake. The manner & tone in which he spoke to me reminded me of a MACHO male chauvinist!! To you: Mister āI forgot your nameā (owner/manager of the restaurant) I have no reason to make any of this up, there are plenty of other better establishments that understand, how the business world works..sure, youāve got your established loyal customers that frequent your restaurant but itās those CUSTOMERS that pay your rent!! I was one of those customers, Iāve only been a few times but I wouldāve been a regular customer & with me a large group of people that couldāve possibly been new customers as well... But all that aside, I wouldāve understood & left it alone , but when you insinuate that Iām lying or making all this up & donāt even offer an apology on your employees behalf, just shows how much you value your...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf I could give zero starts I would, lack of customer service. My family or friends didnāt care for the tortas from this place but u actually like the bread, and even tho my family ordered from a different restaurant I decided to make an extra trip and placed order over the phone, when I get there I go to the area thatās says āpick up orderā because I had already placed didnāt think I needed to go where it says āplace order hereā, there was two ladies and neither one of the tried to ask if I needed help, one was putting orders together n handing them out, the other one went to start taking orders to people that walked in after me, so I finally asked the one packing orders where do I pick up order over the phone, after she ignored me twice, said one moment, goes hands order on drive thru just to come back minutes later to go where it says āplace orderā. I asked to talk to the manager and was told was gone but the lady taking orders said was going to bring to his/her attention. They need to let teach their workers some customer service, a simple Iāll be right with you wouldāve worked instead of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBread- the most important ingredient in a sandwich and the one most often overlooked. This place has a great foundation in their bread, which they butter and toast before piling on the fillings. Tortas las Tortugas is a serious threat to my health and wardrobe; I cannot stop eating there.
The lomo is fantastic, the chorizo is uniquely spiced with nutmeg, and great on its own or with huevos and queso. La Especial is the granddaddy of sandwiches, including lomo (pork), milanesa (fried beef), jamon, queso, and a fistful of other toppings, including avocado.
Don't miss the hand-squeezed limonada or the postres. I've only had the tres leches, and it is excellent. The woman who makes them is from Ocampo, the same town as the owner. It's about two and a half hours from Leon in Guanajuato, and if everyone there is half as nice as the owner, it's the happiest place on earth.
Oh, and the pickled or roasted peppers are wonderful. Not...
