Izumi Revolving Sushi — Restaurant in Daly City

The selection of plates on the revolving sushi bar was minimal & most dishes were not only overpriced but nothing looked right. I arrived there at 12:15 pm. Sloppy & they don't even use the right rice! They used jasmine rice!! They put out ahi nigiri that had a shiny, leathery sheen to it, meaning it was from yesterday. I am a sushi connoisseur so, I was incredibly dissappointed. The sashimi menu is beyond minimal. I tasted the salmon sashimi. I ordered the ahi poke bowl since they only had salmon out. Nothing on the menu other than salmon or ahi (btw, I don't think it was real ahi). The salmon was ok but not good. Definitely not sushi grade or Japanese standard. The ahi poke was tiny and I don't think it was ahi. It might have had 1 oz of tuna in it. It was mostly filled with cucumber, avocado & mixed greens. Wth? The bowl was the size of a midgets fingernail. My stomach has been turning all night. I never get sick from sushi so.... Thumbs down on this place. They also charge about $3 for a side of rice. Lol... So, I paid $20 for two pieces of salmon sashimi, a small ramerkin filled with cucumbers, a few tiny, chopped up pieces of god knows what got me sick & a bowl of rice that was not sushi rice. It was my first time going here.  I ordered for take-out.  The service was fast and easy to place an order for take-out.  It was pretty busy, but the service was fast.

We ordered:

Gyozo - As you know, my go-to  and this was perfectly cooked and not greasy.

Shrimp pops - Super crunchy and flavorful.  I was happy that it wasn't a shrimp tempura but way better.  The perfect bite. I wished it was more than 2 pieces.

Spicy tuna maki  - Fresh and definitely not holding back on the spice.

Dragon roll  - So flavorful, you can taste all the different items just blend together in the perfect bite.

Deep fried California roll - It wasn't what I expected, but way better. It wasn't all batter, but you can tell it was lightly fried

Beef donburi. - Not your standard beef teriyaki. It was finely chopped like a chashu. It tasted amazing.

Chicken karaage - Crunchy but not overly cooked like some places where it's chewy

Finally decided to come here and get lunch with mom. The revolving belt was well stocked with food and had numerous options to choose from. It wasn't that busy so I did notice a lot of the food revolving for an hour so I'm not sure how they regulate that which is a bit concerning because it is raw fish we're consuming. Its great they have a make to order option for sushi and hand rolls but I'm still not sure if this is really all that great when it comes to quality. We had several plates at our table which they wouldn't take til the end so it was really uncomfortable especially because the 2 top tables are tiny so I feared knocking them over.

The quality of the rice is great I'll say that. Best sushi rice I've had in awhile but if I have to worry about the quality and temp control of the food I'd be better off going to a real restaurant that makes them to order which is cheaper than what this place offers.
