YGF Malatang — Restaurant in Daly City

Today’s experience at here was absolutely terrible. I waited an hour, only to be ignored while people who arrived after me got their food first. The service was the worst I’ve ever encountered.

I tried to ask the staff about my order, but one server ignored me twice, and another didn’t even check my ticket before saying, “It’s not your turn yet.” She told me to check the numbers myself, but I had already seen multiple people behind me get their food. If it wasn’t my turn, how did they get theirs first?

This wasn’t just me—many customers were ignored, waiting far too long while staff took their money and then ignored them. The attitude was terrible, with no explanations given.

The worst part? An elderly lady exposed their fraudulent weighing system. She took less than 1lb of food, but the scale showed 1.9lb. When she questioned it, the staff responded impatiently. So I'm thinking how many customers had been overcharged before her?

This place is slow, rude, and dishonest. They waste your time and scam your money. Avoid this place...

We walk in on saturday, when our table was ready. It was packed but our table was already notified in yelp. However, when i came in the waiter still ask me to wait and let 3 ppls came after us in. I ask him why and he said their table got cancel but they reserve before us? I DONT GET IT. Then he said ok i'll let u have table 5, ok no problem. Then we finish with taking our food which is kinda scam, the bowl was so heavy but they did not deduct the weight of the bowl out, so the price when sky rocket when there barely any food there. After that, i found out the table he was gonna gave to us, there people that still eating and chatting around. WE HAVE TO STAND IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RESTAURANT WHEN THE RESTAURANT WAS SO PACKED. Then he kept moving our table around until he can find a table where people about to leave. Overall it was so chaotic, unprofessional and pathetic, wasted money for a horrible experience. Came here on a Wednesday for lunch at 2:30pm. No line and food took 3-5 minutes to come out.

Girlfriend and I both got the build your own bowl - I got the beef bone broth mild and she got the tomato soup. The beef broth was very savory and had a slight kick of numbing spice. The tomato soup had a strong tomato flavor and was not spicy at all. For lack of a better description, it has a Chinese tomato flavor which I feel is slightly different than typical Western tomato soup. We enjoyed both.

There's a large selection of meats, vegetables, and noodles ranging from typical ingredients like lamb to more specialty ones like beef tripe. Overall, it's a pretty comprehensive collection of hotpot ingredients. The meat and veggies all tasted fresh, and I really liked the flat handmade sliced noodles.

Service was good, and the guy working nicely explained how the process/pricing worked. For the build your own, it's a flat $15/lb for the ingredients you pick (not counting the broth), so the pricing is...
