I've been meaning to write this review for years now!
I called them 5 years ago when I was putting together a surprise wedding for my husband. We lived in the Philadelphia area at the time. They were very understanding of my unique situation.
When my mom and I ended up being in Las Vegas for a few days we decided to make the drive out to Dana Point in a day to scout everything out. I scheduled a cake tasting for around 5:30pm, but as neither of us were used to CA traffic we ended up being quite a bit late. They were SUPER accommodating and not only happily took us late, but did not rush us out, and even waited while we selected cupcakes (and even found a blank box to pack it in so that my future husband wouldn't see that I had been in CA lol!). The tasting was incredible, the cupcakes are amazing, and they still stand as having one of my favorite chocolate mousse from anywhere.
They were perfect the day of my wedding, helping my cake get to the right people and destination. Sadly, my anxiety was awful the day of the wedding and I was unable to enjoy my cake, though my guests and husband said that it was the best wedding cake they had EVER had.
Their anniversary cake though made it even better! Rather than take the top tier, freeze it, and then eat frostbite flavorless cake the next year they offer you a mini anniversary cake for two to collect at your one year anniversary. Given that we didn't live in CA they assured me that whenever we returned they would be happy to make us our anniversary cake. Two years later we made our way back to Dana Point and I called ahead to see if they could make us our cake. As soon as I told them that they had made my surprise wedding cake they knew EXACTLY who we were and they happily made our anniversary cake.... Free of charge as they honored my wedding from 2 years earlier. When we arrived they set us up with plates and utensils and a nice table out on their patio. It was every bit as wonderful as I could have imagined. Oh, and they say it's a cake for 2, but it could have easily fed 4-6, we ended up only eating half (and being stuffed) while we were there lol. This was 3 years ago.
We now live in CA and I CAN NOT WAIT to visit them every year for my anniversary and order a...

Customer Service: Grumpy old snob.
The owner of this average bakery is an old snobby wench. If you are young couple and dressed in average street cloths you will be treated like your a waste of time. She will badger you about how expensive her work is and make you feel very unwelcome. I left the bakery very upset.
Cake Quality: Budget cake mix??
She explicitly said that her cakes come from mixes... they sure do taste like it too. The chocolate cake mix was unpleasant. It was very dry and almost waxy. I had a similar experience with the vanilla cake mix. The carrot cake was the only cake mix that I enjoyed.
Filling Quality: Nothing special...
The fillings tasted like they were bought from the store. There was nothing special about them. I expected it to taste something a bit more than average. I only enjoyed the cream cheese because it went well with the carrot cake.
Overall experience: Overpriced birthday cake
A wedding is something special and everything about it should be too. The product and service I experienced here is not wedding qualified. I would not want my bride or guests to eat this overpriced...
