Turk's Dana Warf Restaurant — Restaurant in Dana Point

This past weekend while staying in San Clemente, we decided to visit Dana Point Harbor and Marina. We were surprised to find that so much had changed since our last visit. Not only is the harbor undergoing a massive revitalization project, but some of our favorite restaurants in the marina had closed down. However we were pleased to find out that a few of our long time favorites were still open for business, namely Harpoon Henry's, The Wind and Sea, and Turks. My review is on the last one on this list. Having previously lived in the area for 14 years, we visited Turks several times and always had a great experience. Then came this weekend. Since we had already eaten earlier, we felt like stepping in for a beer and an appetizer was a good idea, and grabbed the nearest table. The waitress with the fancy socks named Wendy cleaned off the table and we sat down. My wife asked her what was going to happen to Turks during this project. She responded that she could answer questions about food and drink only. We said okay, and thought that to be rather odd. We ordered a couple of drinks, and while waiting, my wife decided to take a video of our experience at Turks. When Wendy returned with our drinks, she stated that she didn't want to be on film and left after taking our food order. A little while later, my wife was taking another video and Wendy just happened to cross by in front of her. She raised up her hands as if to block her from being captured in the video. Shortly after that, Wendy brought us the bill and told us we needed to close out the tab. At first I thought she was perhaps ending her shift, but no, she was telling us we had to leave! When my wife stepped outside for a bit, Wendy came by to make sure I knew how rude my wife was for taking a video! Come on, who doesn't take pictures and videos of cool places they visit? We even tried to place another drink order, and the bartender just turned his back on my wife. I don’t even know where to begin. If I could give -5 stars I surely would! My Wife and I were in Dana Pt. For the night and decided we wanted to have dinner and a few drinks and chose Turk’s. Reluctantly I did not check any reviews on this horrible place. We arrived at the front door, walked in and we saw someone that looked like they work there, so my Wife politely asked where we go to be seated. The employee was WENDY. She rudely replied we don’t have a hostess so first come 1st serve. My wife then asked if we could sit at the table directly at the entrance and she told us sureeeeeee sarcastically. So already started bad. She then came and wipes the table with a soaking wet dirty rag leaving the table drenched and without exaggeration it smelled like moldy water and vomit. We sat down and then she said she’ll be right back to help us. 15 minutes later she slowly made her way back to our table and I then asked for napkins to wipe the soaked table off with. She brought 2 small napkins with an attitude. We then asked for a drink menu and she said we don’t have one, so we ordered 2 Mai Tai’s and were then asked if we were wanting food we said yes and she said she will bring back menus, she never did. 15 minutes later she brought back 2 clear plastic cups with the drinks in them and then said she would return in a bit with the rest of our order?????seriously we hadn’t had the chance to even order anything and never got a menu. I then finally flagged her down 10 minutes later and questioned what she is bringing us since we hadn’t even order and again asked for menus. She said oh I’ll bring you menus in a bit????? At that point we were so annoyed by being ignored and disrespected by this rude and unprofessional jerk WENDY, that after 10 more minutes we chose to leave and go to eat dinner at a restaurant that earned our business and our $. This place is a dirty dive, and the entire staff is rude and trashy. Stay away from this place if your smart. I watched her wipe off three other tables with that smelly contaminated dirty rag! The worst experience and disrespect we have ever encountered. We had been going to Turks for 20 years when in town. We recently moved to Dana point and popped in for a couple of drinks with some friends. The bartender who stated his name was Jimbo We had never met before and was beyond rude. He first made fun of my husband's order but that was the best part. He brought our bill to our table stood over us waiting for it to be totaled because he stated he had been working since 6am as was leaving. He wripped the tab out of my husband's hand, pen went flying and he stated my husband was taking to long. My husband was upset and went over to him at the bar as we were leaving to ask for our receipt and he yelled at us telling us we were 86 from the restaurant. He also yelled out my husbands first and last name to all patrons. He then took pictures of us with his cell phone while mocking us when leaving. Is this what service is these days ? I would choose any other establishment then this one. We have spent thousands there and I would never spend anMther penny if it was my last . Unbelievabley disappointed and discussted.
