Wendy's — Restaurant in Danvers

I am not the most frequent purveyor of fast food, but Wendy’s is generally my burger stop of choice. I recently moved to the area and figured I would give the local one a chance; I would advise against a visit to this restaurant.

For context, I went through the drive through.

This Wendy’s had less than pleasant wait staff. No one was outwardly rude but all pleasantries such as “please” and “thank you” were missing from their lexicon. Everything was a perfunctory transaction.

The amount of time spent in the drive through between waiting to order, waiting to pull up to get the order, and receiving the order was a bit less than 20 minutes, distributed fairly evenly between those actions.

We ordered two sandwiches and two drinks - those providing our order got one drink and one sandwich correct. I want to call specific attention to my sandwich here; I wanted to try the new Jalapeño Popper Sandwich as the description was very exciting. For reference this is the description provided by Wendy’s: “Juicy chicken breast, jalapeño cream cheese, shredded pepper jack cheese, Applewood smoked bacon, cheddar cheese sauce, and of course, jalapeños”. What I received was a piece of chicken between two buns, pickles, and what I think was honey mustard (but I won’t commit). Regardless the sandwich was not what I ordered and I don’t eat pickles, so the sandwich was wasted. It took so long to even get the incorrect sandwich that it was not worth the time to try to go in to the dining area (provided it was even open) to argue for a new sandwich. The one sandwich that was made correctly tasted as expected.

We had an overall poor experience at this Wendy's. When we got to the counter my wife and I were the only 2 people there; no line, no employee either. After waiting a coiple of minutes we were joined in line by a gentleman who had just had no reponse at the drive thru window. He told is he had been waiting a while.

We finally fot a cashier and he got our order wrong. I asked for a four piece nugget and he charged us for a 4 piece tender. I had never tried the tenders there before and he seemed to be unsure of what he was doing so we just decided to pay the higher price and try the tenders. This was a mistake as the tenders they served us were not fresh and quite dry. My wife got chili and when she went to the counter to request crackers and hot sauce she was met by a female employee who did not speak and who walked directly in front of her. The lobby was dirty and the ketchup dispensers were empty.

I finally spotted a young man who seemed to know what he was doing, giving other staff direction and cleaning up the dining area. Maybe he was the shift manager but I have no idea since he was wearing a black t shirt and nobody here wears a name badge. I walked over to him and told him about the error in our order and he simply said "Yeah. It's his first day."

Our visit ended when we went to dump our trash in a trash barrel only to see there was no barrel or liner in the chute so we left our trash on the tray on top of the barrel. The same female employee who was rude to my wife earlier came and snatched the tray and dumped it in what I assume was the correct barrel.

Wendy's is pretty consistent when it comes to food, and that's not a bad thing. This particular location was remodeled recently much like the many other Wendy's locations. The inside is bright and inviting. They have nice large table, some booths, and what looked like a seating area under a fireplace (could of been a tv). The restaurant was quite busy, but no one was waiting. I attribute it to fast service. The server was nice and helpful. I ordered a 4 for $4 meal. It's perhaps the best deal in fast food today. Seriously! You get a choice of sandwich (from 4 or 5 options), a 4 piece nugget, a small fries, and a small drink. The best you can do at mcdonalds is like 2 mcdoubles. The food came right out in less than the time it took to get myself a soft drink. It's a great option if you only have a limited time for lunch. The quality of the food was good. Nothing seemed like it sat out for a while. The burger was juicy and the lettuce was crisp. The fries were nice and warm and salted to perfection. The nuggets were also fired to perfection with a nice crispy exterior and soft juicy center. Overall, I would recommend Wendy's and their 4...
