I absolutely love this place! The prices are high but you get what you pay for in portion and quality. This is my go to restaurant for a high end date night. My girlfriend and I started off with sweet tea and water and both were great. We got spinach artichoke dip and Stuffed Pistolettes, the spinach artichoke dip was very good and came with crunchy pita chips that are incredible. The pistolettes were made well and came with a mustard dip but were just not for us, nothing wrong with preparation or quality though. For an entree I got the Mardi Gras pasta which was amazing, it has a perfect blend of tastes and I am sucker for crawfish; I got red beans and rice as my side and it was great although a little spicy. My girlfriend got the grilled salmon which was the best cooked salmon I’ve had short of homemade. She got the crab and spinach bisque as a side and it was good but very soupy and also not our thing, similar to a hearty clam chowder though. Make sure you add the French bread for $1 with your meal as it is some of the best you can get, it’s seasoned and cooked to perfection. For dessert I got their bananas foster bread pudding which nearly brought a tear to my eye; it is the best bread pudding I’ve had in my entire life and there’s no competition. It is cooked perfectly and the bananas flavor is very subtle yet somehow steals the show, a must try. The service was excellent, we were seated after a 20 minute wait and despite the restaurant being packed we were frequently checked on and attended to by our sever and our food came out in a very timely manner. The inside seating is very cozy but you must sit on the balcony; it has a beautiful view of the Mobile Skyline, the bay, and the interstate ( it’s especially stunning at sunset). We paid around $160 after tip for all of this and although that may seem high the portions were all large and the taste was unparalleled. This is a must try restaurant for anyone looking for a high end night out.
Note. It is very possible to have a great time here and have amazing food for a much lower price, their menu is not entirely expensive and we got dessert and two appetizers. You could easily have a great night for two...
Read moreMy experience at Boudreaux Cajun Grill on May 21, 2025. My wife and I were out with a few friends for dinner and the waitress served our drinks. As she was passing out the drinks, she spilled mine all over me. I understand accidents happen and tried not to make a big deal out of it and treated her very respectively even leaving a tip. She grabbed a few paper towels and what I assumed to be the manager came over and basically through me a roll of paper towels down on the table and walked away. There was really no apologies from anyone and things moved along as if nothing happened. I didn’t want to ruin the dinner with friends. When I received my check, I was thinking they would possibly discount or not charge me for my meal. That wasn’t the case. We left the restaurant and it bothered me that there was no real apology. So I decided to call the restaurant less than an hour after we left asking for the manager. The manager got on the phone and he was actually the owner (the person that threw me the roll of paper towels). He recalled everything and basically said since it was only a glass of water that it was no big deal. I explained to him that I was disappointed that there was no apology and that he basically didn’t really care about my negative experience. He stated he would talk with the server. The real problem is the fact that he truly didn’t care about what happened. I asked him if this happened again, what would he do differently? He said nothing. The server may have spilled the water on me, but the manager/owner did not even acknowledge my disappointing experience at his restaurant. The bigger problem is the owner showing no respect towards me. Thus, I am writing a negative review in the hopes that he sees it and hopefully changes his way on how he treats a customer. By the way, I have eaten at this restaurant several times before. So this wasn’t my first and only time...
Read moreSeafood is a staple of cuisine in the deep South. It is as embedded in the culture as Mardi Gras and shrimping boats. Having grown up just north of Mobile Bay, I have had my fair share of good seafood, but that doesn't mean I am a seafood snob. I have my favorites- gumbo, boiled shrimp, crab claws- but I can eat those from any good restaurant. And if you ask me to name a good restaurant, I might just say that it's easier for me to list the bad ones. All along the coast, the 'bad ones' is a short list indeed.
With a name like Boudreaux 's, this restaurant should feature the King of Seafood: New Orleans style cuisine complete with a spicy kick, but sadly, it just doesn't. The food was mediocre at best. I ordered a gumbo which came in a broad but very shallow bowl. When I saw the gumbo, my heart sank, but I did not give up hope. Sometimes, a little can be a lot if the flavors are just right. One taste told me all I needed to know. It was gumbo - just gumbo. There was an abundance of salt but no real kick. As I sit here, I can't remember anything special about it.
Now, I have to say, I live in Colorado which is nowhere near the gulf or any ocean, so my heart sometimes gets homesick for the comforting smell of salt air and the taste - the real and extraordinary taste of great seafood. I spent the entirety of last year wishing to be sitting on a restaurant deck overlooking the delta. With those expectations, maybe any restaurant was doomed to fall short, but I just can't help but think that maybe just maybe, I should have visited one that was already on my list of...
